Lägg till din företagsinformationFew campsites come as handily located for exploring Tuscany as Villatent at Il Poggetto near Rignano sull’Arno, surrounded by hills and half an hour’s drive from Florence in the middle of Chianti country. Even if you don’t feel inclined to get in the car once, the site is tucked away among olive trees and vineyards for a real taste of Italian dolce vita.
There’s plenty to keep you on site too, as you drift from the swimming pool to your sunbed and back again. In high season, the in-house entertainment team organises activities including a mini club for toddlers, while older kids can join in volleyball or football games and challenge each other to table tennis games.
Aqua gym sessions take care of adult fitness levels – but if that sounds too much like hard work, why not just relax in the Jacuzzi or drink a well-deserved glass of wine (Chianti of course) on the terrace overlooking the pool?
Other facilities to make family life on site easy include a basics shop at reception and a terrace restaurant that serves lunch, dinner and takeaways – and there’s often live music in the evening.
Accommodation is in spacious safari tents with fans to keep temperatures cool. A well-maintained sanitary block is just around the corner from the tents, and they’re handily set up with hot showers, washbasins and changing rooms, as well as kids’ toilets and a baby room.

The area surrounding the campsite has much to offer walkers and cyclists. Hire mountain bikes or electric bikes from reception – staff there are happy to advise on routes – to get out exploring the Tuscan hills, or enjoy a trek on horseback (10 minutes’ drive) through vineyards and olive groves.
Few will resist the chance to visit the famous and fabulous Duomo and Uffizi Gallery in Florence (half an hour on the bus that stops outside the campsite). In Pisa (an hour and a half), admire the tilt of the Leaning Tower (don’t forget to take a selfie), and a jaunt to the top of one of the towers in hilltop San Gimignano (an hour and 15 minutes) gives views over the Tuscan hills. Stop off at Arezzo (45 minutes) to admire the decorative interior of its cathedral.
If you’d like to sample local Chianti wines, the Strada Chiantigiana driving route wends north from Castellina in Chianti (an hour) to Strada in Chianti (half an hour), taking in pretty villages like Montefioralle (45 minutes) and Greve in Chianti (40 minutes) as well as vineyards for tastings and tours along the way.
