If you want an Arezzo city break without the street noise, stay a little outside the city at VioVillas Agriturismo Glamping. Set on a peaceful farm surrounded by green Tuscan countryside, these glamping cabins are just a 10-minute drive away from Arezzo city centre, where grand old buildings and museums sit surrounded by lively streets. Here you get to stay in quiet green surroundings where guests are encouraged to learn about local agricultural traditions and given the chance to taste typical Tuscan products on the farm. Surrounded by hills and woods, the property has lots of spacious green areas where you're welcome to go for a stroll or, if you're feeling peckish, have a picnic. Order ahead and, for an additional fee, the site will put together a picnic from products on the farm specially for the occasion. VioVillas Agriturismo Glamping is just outside of Antria, in an area popular for its wines and olive oils and just a short drive away from riding stables that can organise horse-riding activities and private lessons in the local countryside. The ‘T’ bus stop, 300 metres away, has connections to the local villages Antria and San Polo. There’s a connecting bus from Antria to the centre of Arezzo; by bus, guests can get to the city in under 30 minutes altogether. Unwinding after a trip to the city is easy, too, as each comfortable cabin at VioVillas Agriturismo Glamping has a private outdoor hot tub, a small kitchen, a TV and a bathroom.

VioVillas Agriturismo Glamping is a 10-minute drive from Arezzo (or just half an hour away by bus, including a connection in Antria). There, you can start by visiting the city’s cathedral, built between the 13th and 16th centuries, which has grand vaulted ceilings and five gorgeous tin-glazed terracotta artworks by Andrea della Robbia. You could admire Piero della Francesca's frescoes at Arezzo Cathedral and Basilica di San Francesco, before strolling to Casa Vasari to see yet more historic frescoes alongside paintings and sculptures. Should you fancy stopping for food somewhere scenic, the 1500s stone buildings at Piazza Grande house lots of restaurants and cafés. It should be clear as day that there are plenty of noteworthy places in Arezzo, including Fortezza Medicea, built between 1561 and 1563 to defend the city, and Petrarch's House, dedicated to the poet Francesco Petrarca. Looking to get away to somewhere a little further afield, too? You might want to consider day trips to the scenic hilltop town of Cortona (45 minutes), the medieval town of Anghiari (half an hour) or the little walled city of Castiglion Fiorentino (half an hour).
