What a spectacular site this is. Set near Perpignan on the Mediterranean coast, 100 metres from the sea in the Languedoc-Roussillon town of Le Barcares, Camping le Floride et l'Embouchure is regularly rated as one of the top sites and holiday resorts in the south of France and has been welcoming guests for more than 50 years.
There are all sorts of reasons why this park is so well rated, from its scenic palm tree-lined setting to its luxury services to its mega 4,000m² waterpark with waterslides, a huge Jacuzzi and a covered heated pool: have a look at the pics to see its vast expanse.
The waterpark is in the Floride section of the park, alongside a restaurant, bar and gym; there's also a beauty centre in this section with a range of treatments including massages, hammam sessions, and hair and nail pampering.
And there's (a lot) more: the Embouchure section of the site, by the side of the river, has direct access to the beach; the site has bike hire and fishing; there's a kids' club and a teens' club; a pétanque court and a play area; a TV room and evening entertainment… best allow several days here when you arrive, before even thinking of venturing off site.

Once you're ready to head off site (in week two, probably), wander around local town Le Barcarès then drive the 11 kilometres or so to Fort de Salses, the 15th-century castle that once sat on the border between Catalonia and France.
The fort is one of France's National Historical Monument; if old piles are your thing, you'll find plenty more within a short distance of here, from the Cathar mountain castles of Chateau Peyrepertuse and Chateau Queribus to the west, and the medieval centre and Arab quarter including the Palace of the Kings of Majorca in department capital Perpignan a few kilometres south.
Also have a wander around Leucate, the beaut and colourful seaside town with lush views from its hilltop fort, and Collioure, with its castle and church set scenically against the beach and harbour.
