Lägg till din företagsinformationIs that a storybook you’ve stepped into? No… it seems to be Camping La Viennerie. Don’t worry, the classic scenery is very much real at this peaceful site in the Loiret countryside, close to the village Oussoy en Gâtinais and 15 minutes’ drive from Montargis.
The spacious grassy pitches here are in the grounds of a farm stretching out over 20 acres and centred around a traditional farmhouse built back in 1850. There’s lovely scenery on all sides: a mixture of wooded groves, wheat fields, and sunflower patches.
As those views suggest, this is fine walking country that's well-suited to leisurely bike rides too (although the somewhat uneven terrain means mountain bikes are a good idea). Other outdoor pursuits in this area include horse riding and golf, and the farm’s owners have a collection of detailed maps available for those who want to plot out their route on foot, so you shouldn’t have to worry about going too far astray while you ramble.
Sore from the day’s activities? Not to worry, there’s plenty of space to unwind in a deckchair back at the farm. Perhaps pick up a good bottle of wine from the Loire Valley’s wineries (40 minutes’ drive away) and sip on it while kids blow off any remaining steam in the play area set up on site.
The people running this site also own a boarding kennels and training centre for dogs, so they’re very welcoming to anyone who prefers to bring the dog on holiday with them.

Time to visit a castle? Or maybe three? There are several in the area, anyway. Fill your basket in the vegetable gardens at Château de la Bussiere (half an hour's drive), then hide behind the stone walls at Château de Sully-sur-Loire (45 minutes). It’s easy to get lost in these grand castles, and none more so than Château de Chambord (an hour and a half), the biggest and most distinguished of them all.
If you’re ready for some old-fashioned fun, go to the old railway tracks at Cyclo-rail de Puisaye (40 minutes), now running as a bicycle rail. The medieval-themed rides at Parc Médiéval des Sources (25 minutes) also hark back to past times, while the Auto Sport Museum (half an hour) has a collection of antique cars.
For earthenware shops and a hunting museum, head into the town of Gien (20 minutes). Also nearby you can experience farm life among the roosters, rabbits and donkeys at La Ferme Coqalane (25 minutes).
Don’t feel like you’re cut off from the big city, though: Paris and all its sites are an hour and 20 minutes by train (from Montargis) if you fancy a day trip.
