Camping Sukošan Beach

The historic centre of Zadar (20 minutes’ drive) is dotted with ancient buildings, some in ruins (like the Roman Forum), others in a well-preserved state, like the medieval Cathedral of St. Anastasia, with its Romanesque architecture, or the 16th-century Duke’s Palace. Take a walk on the fortified city walls before heading to the Sea Organ monument to catch the sunset. With its pine and beech forests, Paklenica National Park (40 minutes) is a popular destination for wildlife enthusiasts, who might be able to spot deer, wolves and assorted birds of prey, including peregrine falcons. Hiking trails take you past old settlements, streams and deep canyons, and there are also climbing routes for all levels of expertise. The landscape of Krka National Park (45 minutes) is renowned for dramatic waterfalls like Skradinski Buk. Several observation points overlook Visovačko jezero lake, in the centre of which is a small island with a Franciscan monastery.
