Silver Sands Holiday Park on Scotland's Moray Firth coastline is named after the sparkling stretch of beach that runs alongside it, but you'll reckon what's on site is pretty sparkling too: revamped facilities including an indoor swimming pool (free), a sauna and a fitness suite should have you feeling pretty bright… Silver Sands is at Lossiemouth on the north-eastern Scottish coastline, minutes from the very fine Moray Golf Club and a short drive from Inverness. As well as the pool, fitness suite and sauna, this well-maintained park has a restaurant and bar, an adventure play area for the kids, and live evening entertainment – and like the pool, facilities are free. You'll likely spend quite a bit of time off base too: Silver Sands has direct access to the three sandy miles of West Beach, brimming with rock pools, caves and sand dunes to explore.

Tyckte om: That where we pitched was close to the toilets and shower rooms and other amenities

Tyckte inte om: It was very noisy while having dinner, don't get me wrong, I think it's great that there's entertainment for all ages, but the noise level was pretty high that you couldn't hear our conversations to one another

Tyckte om: Price was great Location was fabulous, right on the beach Good clean facilities with a nice clubhouse

Tyckte inte om: Showers were barely tepid Chip shop shit on first night,.planned to fit food in restaurant/bar. Asked and was till food served up till 9pm Went to order (just chips) at 8.30 and was told kitchen was shut as organising pies for half time of the football game being shown so jo food to be had given vegetarian a d couldn't eat the pies

Tyckte om: The location and facilities are great here, large tent pitches with plenty space - value for money . Staff very helpful and engaging.

Tyckte inte om: Having to queue at 8.30am to book swimming - online system be much better as get on other sites.

Tyckte inte om: Pitches weren’t marked out very clearly and there were mainly dirt/sand rather than gravel or grass. Sure seems to cater more to static caravans than tourers chip shop was close my entire stay

Tyckte om: Nices carvan site. Enjoyed the pool area and that the beach was so close. That evening entitlement the kids love and good food.

Tyckte inte om: When first got there and tryed putting we tent up and couldn't as ground was very hard and full of stones. But then to the office and told them got moved to better pitch that we where able to put up we tents

Tyckte om: Loved the beautiful beach and the staff in the clubhouse were friendly and very helpful. The showers were lovely and hot and the fact a lot of people were using them they were fairly clean and tidy.

Tyckte inte om: The buckets next to the touring site were overflowing with rubbish and the sewage drain where the large tourers dump there waste was blocked and overflowing with sewage which was quite scary as it could easily create a health hazard.

Tyckte om: The staff were efficient and freindly and the location right on beach could not be bettered.

Tyckte inte om: The toilets and showers were very poor. Fag ends and rubbish in the mens, very poor state of repair not sure when any cleaning happened. Several of the showers freezing. Some of the flushes did not work. Womens were same. Lots of toilet flushes and showeres were broken. The pool looked nice, but we did not use it, as not enough time. There was a roof leak in the resturant with a bucket under it in the middle of a walkway. Although we had had a lot of rain

Lokala sevärdheter

The harbour and fishing town of Lossiemouth is a few miles from Silver Sands Holiday Park and has a good range of shops and restaurants as well as a fisheries museum, a small theatre/gig venue and the 18 holes of Moray Golf Club, regarded by those in the know as one of Scotland's finest courses. If you want to dig into Scotland's rich history, Balvenie Castle, one of the oldest stone castles in Scotland, is a short drive away, as is Inverness Castle, in the centre of the town overlooking the River Ness. Hang around in town after a trip to the castle for more historic buildings like Inverness Cathedral and the Old High Church. It's also not far to the shops, restaurants, museums, galleries and history of Aberdeen: recommended are the Aberdeen Art Gallery, Aberdeen Maritime Museum, live music in Belmont Street, Provost Ross' House and, if you're around in summer, dropping into some shows at the Aberdeen International Youth Festival.
