Spectacular sunsets, stunning views over the Somerset Levels and a simple, utterly peaceful vibe. Sound inviting? You’d better get yourselves off to Grove Hill Campsite in South Somerset, a no-frills pop-up with hilltop grass pitches set in a wildlife haven sheltered by young trees. You may well get to see deer, foxes, rabbits and a variety of birds during your stay, so do remember to pack those binoculars. It would be a good idea to add a battery pack and torches to your packing list as well; simple facilities on site include washing-up facilities, a shower and WC, but there is only a limited power supply so you’ll need some light to find your way around after dark. Dogs are very welcome at Grove Hill, just please keep them on leads while you’re on site. There are loads of local walks from the pitches and on the Somerset Levels, so they’ll certainly get plenty of exercise. The historic market town of Somerton (10 minutes’ drive) has a basics store where you can pick up barbecue essentials, and if you’re not feeling the alfresco cooking vibe, the sprinkling of pubs and takeaways will keep starvation at bay.

Tyckte om Recieved a very friendly welcome when we arrived and checked in, this continued throughout our stay. Nice clean simple site, large pitches with great views. Would definitely recommend for a nice peaceful break.

Tyckte om The campsite is situated on a hill, offering a panoramic view of fields and farms. It's such a lovely place, a perfect place to recharge your batteries and be with nature.
Glastonbury is just a 20-minute drive away, which was ideal for us.
Clean facilities with hot water and showers available. The campsite is exactly as described. Tranquil surroundings. Stunning sunsets. Dogs are welcomed, which is perfect for us. Waking up to birds' trills was such a treat.
The owner was really friendly. Thank you for your hospitality.

Tyckte om Immersed in nature and nice touches like the cabin with an area for colouring, reading and relaxing.

Tyckte inte om On a slope so limited suitable areas for van, bring chocs. (Perhaps a couple of camping pods would work)

Excellent site great value for money. Staff very friendly.

Tyckte om The site met all our needs, it was quiet, chilled out, had toilets and shower as described. Loads of kitchen cooking utensils for free use if required at outbuilding. The owner was really friendly, we had a lovely view and lovely weather

Tyckte om The campsite was really lovely. Views were beautiful. Site was really well maintained and facilities had been thoughtfully constructed. We really enjoyed our stay. The owner was really helpful and friendly would definitely recommend if you are looking for a wilder camping experience.

Perfect back to basic get with the best view.

Tyckte om Wow what a view. Somerset stretching out infront of you watching the sky change at sunset amazing. Dave has created a little bit of heaven here. A fabulous place in the hands of a really helpful host.

Tyckte inte om Pitch is on a bit of a slope, next time we will bring leveling ramps for the van (sorted)

Tyckte om Really lovely little site with stunning views. Dave who runs it is a lively guy and really helpful. We only stopped for a night passing through but will come back for a longer stay. Highly recommended for those who like birdwatching.

Tyckte om The views were incredible, the host was lovely and kind, the facilities were fantastic, charming, authentic and beautifully in touch with the surrounding nature. Good proximity to Glastonbury with walks near by right from the campsite. Would highly recommend and would definitely go back.

Military history your thing? Hotfoot it to the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm Museum (15 minutes’ drive) where you can inspect hangars full of World War II planes and step onto the flight deck of Concorde 002. Petrol heads may prefer the UK’s biggest display of cars and motorbikes at Haynes Motor Museum (20 minutes), where Bugattis and sleek Ferraris are displayed alongside Smart cars and racing bikes. Hikers can clamber up to Cadbury Hillfort (25 minutes) for views across the Levels, or take on the steep slope up National Trust-owned Glastonbury Tor (20 minutes) – if you can face climbing to the top of the tower, your reward is glimpses across the Bristol Channel into Wales on clear days. Rather more gentle ambles can be had through the marshy landscape at RSPB Greylake (25 minutes), a nature reserve home to snipe and lapwings as well as swans and birds of prey. For a change of pace, popular local shopping spots include the designer bargains at Clarks Village (15 minutes), and the cool art galleries of Bruton (half an hour).
