Pitching up by a pub – that’s always a fine idea. Settle in for a tasty dinner, and as many drinks as you wish, then simply stroll across the garden to get to your bed without any worries over who’s going to drive. And it’s an even finer idea if the pub in question is a cosy, friendly place like the Providence Inn in the village of Yedingham, around a 15-minute drive from Malton. There’s a cheery Yorkshire welcome for all guests here, be they families, groups, couples or single travellers – the folk on site just request that all visitors respect each other (and the neighbours) by keeping the hubbub down after midnight. (Please do note that there is likely to be a bit of noise from the pub/beer garden in the evenings though – such is the way with pubs…) Life here is pretty relaxed and informal – guests can pick their pitches, and are welcome to light up barbecues or build fires in firepits (as long as they're kept off the grass). Along with basic bathroom facilities (cleaned twice daily), there’s access to the River Derwent for those who’ve brought along a fishing licence and asked permission. Pike are the most likely catch, but there have been sightings of other slippery species around here too. And so to dinner… home-cooked food is served seven days a week in the pub (you're advised to book in advance for meals, and take note that on Sundays, the kitchen closes at 5pm), and it gets a thumbs up from the locals, who have been known to drive a considerable number of miles to get their dinner here. There’s a good-sized beer garden for alfresco drinks on fine days, and a generous play area to keep kids entertained while the grownups nurse their drinks nearby.

Tyckte om I stayed here with a few freinds for 2 nights. It gave us everything we needed and we had a great time. Due to the time of year we went, I was was reasonable quiet which we personally prefered however I can imagine it having quite the atmosphere in the middle of summer. The toilets are not 5 star however for the size of the site they are more than sufficient and were certainly kept clean. The shower was very nice and also clean. Check in was easy. We did not use the pub so can not comment. Our non-electric pitch was excellent with beautiful veiws and lots of space. Thank you!

Tyckte inte om Not an issue for us due to the time we stayed, but I would recommend having a car as the site is very isolated and getting to a shop can be hard. Again not an issue for us, but the electric area for tents but it looked quite cramped and I would have been disappointed if we had been pitched there. If you are going for a short time I would recommend the non-electric as you get the veiws and the space. Especially if you are going to be up a bit later as there were a few families in the electric area. Not a complaint, just some advice for future campers!

Tyckte om Clean campsite with a nice pub and good food with reasonable prices.

Only 1 shower for the whole campsite that wasn’t regularly maintained though out the day. The lights only work in the toilets when they wanted to and the hot water was so hot it nearly scolded you and no warning signs saying it was so hot even though it stated on pitch up that there would be som noise from the beer garden when the pub was open there was a few inconsiderate people being loud at half past midnight and kids still shouting on the park until 22:30 at night pitches are a bit uneven and got big holes in places witch if not careful could damage the tent
