Tucked away in the orchard of a working farm in the Wyre Forest, Luxury Camping at Woodhouse Farm offers a lesson in how to get away from the rat race in style. Yes, the gorgeous and lavishly kitted out tented lodges are electricity free, but they have every other conceivable thoughtful touch to make your life easy and thoroughly enjoyable on holiday. Woodburning stoves to keep everyone cosy in the spacious living area. A dining table and leather sofa. Proper beds – and natty wooden-built cabin beds for the kids. Roll-top baths. A well-equipped kitchen with a Belfast sink and Welsh dresser stocked with all your crockery and cutlery needs. You certainly won’t need to pack the kitchen sink – in fact, just pack your suitcase – as all linen and towels are included in your stay, along with a few essentials in a welcome pack, and a box of firewood for your cooking and kettle boiling needs (more can be bought on site). For those family days away from technology (go on, you can do it), there’s a games chest to keep everyone entertained. Outside, private seating areas have peaceful rural views amid pear trees; a hot tub and barbecues can be hired too.

Pear Trees safaritält 3 sovrum (8 personer)

Tyckte om: Perfect break for our family of 2 adults and 6 kids (aged 8-13). Great space, cosy and warm beds, lovely bathroom - can't even call it camping really other than for the lack of electricity! Kids loved saying games and running around in the field. We were hosted very well, everyone was helpful and friendly, and the welcome basket was yummy! The stove kept us warm in the evenings, as well as the blankets, hot water bottles. It was also lovely sitting outside on the sofa with a blanket appreciating the countryside views.

Tyckte inte om: We struggled keeping the fire alight and the instructions (translated from Italian) weren't very helpful but we got there eventually. We were given extra wood to help us but km sure someone more proficient with wood burning stoves would find it easier! There was also a portable backup gas stove which we could have used but opted to keep trying with the stove.

Hedgerow safaritält 3 sovrum (6 personer)

Tyckte om: This was our 3rd visit over the years to the Hedgerow at Woodhouse Farm. Such a lovely setting and very private. You have your own field surrounded by hedges and Peartrees ( the other tent) is far away and not intrusive. The children love the adventure whilst you have the amenities of a loo and a roll top bath. Mark is always friendly and eager to assist. Thank you for having us (again). I would highly recommend Woodhouse Farm glamping.

Tyckte om: Beautiful farm with a beautiful safari tent. Great to relax away from the city. Hot tub is awesome and fire pit is lovely. Great place to bond with family and friends.

Tyckte inte om: I understand that it is electric free but it would be nice to have a proper working fridge.

If you can bear to be separated from your luxurious accommodation, there is plenty to keep everybody happy hereabouts. Take the kids to meet the giraffes and drive through the lion enclosure at West Midlands Safari Park (15 minutes’ drive), where you can easily spend a day. There’s more animal shenanigans to be had at Rays Farm Country Matters (10 minutes), where you can feed deer and pigmy goats. For activity-filled days out in the open air, try canoeing on the River Severn (10 minutes), or take to the treetops on rope courses at Go Ape Wyre Forest. On days when all you fancy is a quiet woodland stroll, head for Wyre Forest Visitor Centre (both 15 minutes) for nature trails through the arboretum. And to learn about local history on your glamping break, the Norman remains at Ludlow Castle are open for exploration, and themed medieval days are hosted there too, with bird of prey displays and jousting tournaments. Don’t miss the Victorian streets and shops at the Ironbridge Gorge Museums (40 minutes), where you can head underground on a guided tour of the Tar Tunnel.
