After a cosy spot somewhere in the Cotswolds? Historic houses, museums and market towns are out in full force around the cosy Cotswolds Camping in its Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty six miles from Chipping Norton… to be exact, this family-run site is 15 minutes' drive away from Blenheim Palace and within striking distance of many characteristic Cotswolds trails. At the same time, Oxfordshire is the other way and Oxford itself is just 15 minutes’ train journey away from Charlbury Station (five minutes’ drive). As for those of you with a soft spot for a hardcore shopping trip, you won’t be left in the lurch here, as Bicester Village has a shopping outlet 35 minutes’ drive away and Stratford-upon-Avon is 45 minutes’ drive away for handsome riverside scenes and independent shops. Now, how about those hiking shoes? Well, the site has access to fancy footpaths, bridleways and woodland walks, so you’ll be able to get right to the rambling. You might want to stop by the local village, Charlbury, on your way around the local area, as there are food shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants here, all within walking distance of the site. And don’t worry, you’ll be able to carry the good time onto the site, as barbecues and firepits are both permitted – the same for dogs. As for the facilities you’ll have on hand, these include a play area, shower, toilets and a dishwashing area to help you deal with any dirty pots and pans.

Tyckte inte om Hot water for washing up and a pitch that wasn’t muddy! The dogs paws, our footwear ended up covered in mud and so did the campervan.

Tyckte om We booked this site as we were booked for a pleasure flight from Enstone Airfield, unfortunately cancelled, and it would have been about 10 mins journey.
I think quirky describes the site the best, from being asked to use the word Zeacombehouse in your review to not proving toilet rolls in the loo, valid reasons given, and having many rules to adhere to made it an interesting weekend stay. Everywhere was clean and the facilities were good. Reasonable size pitches but remember your levelling blocks. Live music on the Saturday evening was a nice surprise

Tyckte inte om Our pitch was a bit odd in that it had the hook up post for 3 other pitches on it and not in the corner, it was okay until we returned Saturday evening to find the chap on the next pitch had not read the rules, or choose to ignore them and not bring a long lead. This meant that he had to park on the wrong side of his pitch and his lead was barely long enough to reach to the post, only touched the ground in the middle causing a trip hazard on our pitch. I spoke to the warden and he agreed, he spoke to the chap and nothing was done!! Just didn't think that this was a safe condition especially as there were no lights on the pitches. Only there until the next morning and so didn't take it any further, just thought it was odd because of all the rules. No hot water to the washbasins or wash up sinks!

Tyckte om Pitches weren't too small and the site is in a good location. Because of the location the night sky was full of stars. Didn't use the café/bar/shop but reassuring to know it's there.

Tyckte inte om It had the feeling of a large, manicured campsite i.e. not very rustic and lots of signs. Unfortunately the facilities didn't match that - the toilets weren't very clean and the hand dryer didn't work. I've seen better toilet facilities on campsites that offer only basic facilities.
As there's very little phone signal there's probably a better solution for late check-ins rather than phoning, perhaps just a list of names with their pitch location?

Tyckte om The space between pitches, the ease of checking in.
The showers and toilets were super close, and all kitchen amenities, usually I would bring my own cooking devices, but was able to this time. Therefore, it was brilliant having the sink and microwave provided.
Really enjoyed the Campsite, would book again.

Tyckte om Wow what a beautiful wonderful campsite. Fantastic facilities and surroundings. Had a very good breakfast in the Cauldron Cafe Emporium. Jo the owner of the cafe is such a lovely lady 😍 we also bought some of her remedies. We will definitely go back again soon.

Trail time? You might want to begin with the Roman Fosse Way, passing by the towns of Stow-on-the-Wold (25 minutes' drive) and Moreton-in-Marsh (25 minutes). Or from Lechlade-on-Thames (half an hour), perhaps you'll roll right on to the Thames Path, if you’re not drawn into the water with watersports such as canoeing. Characterful towns and villages are a Cotswolds staple and it shows… Burford (15 minutes) is boxed full of unusual shops, pubs and tea rooms, while in Witney (20 minutes), you’ve got classic entertainment courtesy of a multi-screen cinema, shops and leisure centre mixed in with markets and the historic Cogges Manor Farm. In Woodstock (15 minutes) there’s more history inside The Oxfordshire Museum. Like Chipping Norton (10 minutes), the place has a swimming pool, shops, pubs and tea rooms galore, to add to Chipping Norton’s theatre and cinema. Historic are many of the houses around here, and that includes the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Blenheim Palace (15 minutes), the Jacobean Chastleton House (20 minutes) and or the 18th-century Buscot Park (35 minutes). For more activities in the throw of it all, there’s Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens (25 minutes) and Bourton-on-the-Water’s equestrian centre, brewery and motoring museum (half an hour).
