No children, but plenty of wildlife – and a field of horses as your nearest neighbours… It’s all a very relaxed and peaceful experience at adults-only Francis Fields, in rural Oxfordshire about five minutes’ drive from the market town of Deddington. This is a lovely place to relax and unwind, perhaps taking a stroll around the farm to meet the horses and ponies (ask on site if you’d like a proper introduction), finding a spot for a picnic or just chilling out in a deckchair with a drink of your choice and soaking up the uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside. It’s not just the human guests that appreciate this location – other visitors often include foxes, badgers, deer, owls and birds of prey, all of which you might catch sight of if you tread carefully or sit quietly enough. As an adults-only site children are not allowed to stay here, but travelling horses and dogs are welcome. The local pub, 10 minutes’ walk away, is also a dog-friendly place – and with tasty food and a good range of beers into the bargain. More shops and pubs are up in Deddington, along with a monthly farmers’ market. Back on site, you’ll be staying on a gently sloping field where pitches are mown into the wild grass. Solar lighting illuminates each pitch, the access track and the toilet and shower areas, and there are firepits to hire for a nice warm alfresco evening.

Tyckte inte om There is not enough toilets or showers for the amount of people on site, too far to walk in the middle of the night if staying on gravel pitch. We paid for 2 nights but decided not to stay 2nd night. I came out of the port aloo to find a queue of people standing, very embarrassing. My husband and I went to the wooden hut for a shower and the water was stone cold didn't heat up at all. I don't know what it would be like in the height of summer really.

I am sorry our site did not meet your expectations, though I am glad you did find it peaceful.

Thank you for your feedback, I shall get in contact with Pitchup to add that the walk from the Farmyard pitches is slightly longer at about 2 minutes.

We are a 60 days permitted development pop-up sight, all of our infrastructure is taken down as soon as our last guest leaves. Thus, as listed, we cannot provide entertainment facilities like commercial sites and holiday parks. We do however, offer: free wifi, raised patio seating in our farmyard pitches, books and private mown farm walks.

Our toilets are not portaloos as they are plumbed into mains water.

I am sorry the showers ran cold when you used them. We have our contact details printed all around site, for situations like this, and aim to fix issues as quickly as possible.

If you had let us know you were not happy with your stay whilst still on site, we would have done are best to fix any issues or refund your second night.

Tyckte om Before I even stayed here, I just knew it was going to be amazing judging by the positive reviews, which were absolutely correct, but it was the communication and helpfulness of Ella which I found to be fantastic during and after booking! I have never stayed at a campsite where the toilets were something out of a 5 star resort! Smelling fresh and clean towels provided twice a day. There was plenty of space between each camper, we actually had one of the dog pen areas, and I have to say, absolutely amazing to be able to relax with my dog running around off lead, knowing she is safe and everyone else's picnics were too! haha! We had a fantastic few nights and will definitely be back! We enjoyed a firepit and invited some of the other campers to join us for smores. Everyone was really friendly and considerate. Thank you Selena & Jack

Tyckte om Beautiful campsite. Excellent pitches, we were very fortunate to have the best one, with a gorgeous sunset view! The pitches are really well spaced and campers nicely spread out with spare space between, so it felt almost like it was just us, which was wonderful.
It was so peaceful and we were blessed with clear skies with incredible star gazing - the most activite skies we've seen in the UK! Lovely amenities on site. Could not reccomend enough! Fabulous all round ❤️

Staying at Francis Fields, you’ll be just on the edge of the Cotswolds National Landscape, putting you within easy reach of lots of gorgeous walking and cycling routes (and a good number of country pubs to stop at…) Some favourite options nearby include walks around the Rollright Stones, or a grander tour of Broughton Castle (both 20 minutes’ drive). Even grander are the lavish stately home and landscaped gardens (designed by Capability Brown, no less) at Blenheim Palace (15 minutes). If your current togs aren’t up to scratch for such things, hit the outlet stores at Bicester Village (20 minutes). The Cotswolds Distillery (25 minutes) is another good place to shop, with a café and distillery tours on offer too. Other days out nearby might take you into Oxford (half an hour) to tour the colleges and museums or try your hand at the art of punting, or to the high-speed action at the Silverstone circuit (35 minutes).
