Turn on your exploration mode… surrounded by walks in the Northamptonshire countryside and cycling paths along disused railway lines, you won’t be sitting around at Arthingworth Camping. Unless you want to, of course… after all, this family-friendly site is on the banks of a gentle river named Sidoms Ford and has over six acres of spacious pitches for you to lounge around on. As well as all those outward adventures, this place has its own secrets to seek out – can you find the remains of a small quarry that was dug by monks in the 14th century while building a nearby monastery? When the kids aren’t scouting that out, there’s plenty of space for them to play various games at a large open area between the pitches. If you clear it in advance, the folk that run the place will also let you go metal detecting on the farm and the Battle of Naseby site. This is a small, family-run back to basics site with super scenery, so there are no hot water or shower facilities. However, there are toilet facilities and cold drinking water to ready you for the countryside walks that start directly from the site. If you’re after something a little stronger, there’s a pub five minutes’ walk from the site and two more pubs and a gin distillery five minutes’ drive away (the latter runs tours and tastings, if you fancy it). For bike rides or walks, it's a 10-minute walk to the atmospheric Kelmarsh Tunnel. Another short walk will get you to the Brampton Valley Way, a 14-mile route down a disused railway. For the dog owners among you, there are also a number of dog walks starting in Arthingworth (five minutes’ walk) – the site will provide a map with details.

Tyckte om Peace & quiet. Really friendly host & spot on site for us. We like basic, as long as there is a loo! We are happy. Was quite busy, but no disturbances from other campers. Like the 10pm quiet time, keeps things sensible. Nice pub in walking distance too.

Tyckte om Lovely scenery, hosts came to check in during the evening and give ideas of what to do in the area. Pantry was a great finishing touch to the area.

I think adding a toilet block to pitch area 10/11 would be a great addition to the set up!

Tyckte inte om Group of young people arriving just before 9pm with a big speaker, they were up quite late although thankfully didn’t have their music too loud.

Some guests did not respect the toilets on site and didn’t clean up after themselves (thank god for anti bac wipes)

The compost toilets were kept nice and clean.
The campsite vibe was really friendly.
The 12.30pm checkout time.

Tyckte inte om I was hoping to be able to park my car next to my pitch while I unloaded. It did state that cars were only allowed in the car park and I did assume this. There were pitches next to the car park and we chose one of those. I also saw others using a wheel barrow that I assume was available to borrow to help transport peoples items.

Tyckte om I had a wonderful experience! The communication was excellent both verbally from the friendly staff Eva and helpful signage across the site, making it easy to navigate and follow guidelines. Checking in was smooth and easy.

The space was clean and well-maintained, with tidy facilities and a lovely pantry area stocked with essentials. The overall atmosphere was peaceful and quiet, perfect for a relaxing getaway.

Will definitely be returning!

Tyckte om First time here. What a gem. Eva is fantastic. Arrived in 34c heat having cycled in. Eva came to introduce herself and a chat. Then offered an ice lolly. I gladly accepted.
The pitches are well distanced. Found a little shade in the tree line by the brook.
Other campers were very friendly. Making an overall pleasing experience.
On a footnote.. toilets were very clean. No unpleasant odours. With plenty of room inside. A neat little shop with an honesty book. Bring change though.
All this at a reasonable price

Tyckte om From contacting Eva to ask if we could arrive early and getting a resounding yes I knew we were heading to a welcoming site.
It was easy to find and very clear signage set out a few inclusive instructions and barrows provided made getting to the spacious, level pitch.
The no cars on site kept retained a very natural feel and with swallows, kites and swifts wheeling overhead, we quickly relaxed into the beautiful calm surroundings.
A wonderfully stocked ‘pantry’ with local honey, eggs and sweet treats was a gorgeous addition and just added to the welcome and sharing feel.
Very well presented compost toilets kept with the natural feel of the site and they were set in dry, gravelled area.
We will return as the site was so relaxing and welcoming we didn’t leave site until absolutely needing to so didn’t get to the Kelmarsh tunnels or the local pub.

Tyckte om Loved how basic and back to nature this place was. Took my son on his first camping trip to show him what it was like to sleep under the stars and he absolutely loved it. Will definitely use this place again next year

Take things off the land and onto the water at the Grand Union Canal (20 minutes’ drive). There, you’ll have the chance to kayak or take a paddleboard down the historic canal line. Afterwards, there are two local market towns where tasty food can be tracked down. Market Harborough (10 minutes) has a huge indoor market and many eateries, and Rothwell (10 minutes) has lots more shops and restaurants. When you’re exploring the local area, stop by Kelmarsh Hall and Gardens (25 minutes’ walk). The historic house has a butler’s pantry, walled garden and tea rooms. National Trust’s Lyveden (half an hour’s drive) is further out and a fine example of a half-finished Elizabethan house. More exciting days out for the family include West Lodge Farm Park (15 minutes), a farm park with pony riding activities, or Wistow Maze (25 minutes), an eight-acre challenge for the family.
