Oakdean Cottage

Make it your mission to explore as much of the Forest of Dean as possible when at this park – there’s direct access on foot from the site to the area’s leafy trails. Wander to Bradley Hill for green vistas (15 minutes’ walk) or look out across a carpet of trees (40 minutes) from Blaize Bailey. If you’ve done all that and are ready to drive, travel 10 minutes to the Go Ape Forest of Dean adventure course for some ziplining action, then mosey over to the local sculpture trail in search of art (15 minutes). If driving is less than preferable, see the local landscape while chugging along on the Dean Forest Railway (10 minutes) and the Perrygrove Railway (20 minutes) instead. Hankering after a bit more adventure? Go underground at the Clearwell Caves (20 minutes), glide over to the River Wye for kayaking, canoeing and wild swimming (25 minutes), then calm yourself down with relaxed roams in the Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo (half an hour).
