Ilex Farm Camping

Tyckte om Reviewing on behalf of a friend we camped with - it’s a lovely site! The pitches were well sized and spaced and no one was camped on top of each other. The showers and toilets were lovely and clean and the showers were warm which is always a bonus! The owners were polite upon arrival. Nothing to fault at all!

Tyckte om This is a lovely campsite. The pitches are well spaced, we loved how the rows were on levels so campers were sitting at different heights. The showers and toilets were kept incredibly clean. As it’s an equestrian centre too, you can see the beautiful horses which we loved! The site was peaceful, we couldn’t fault it at all.

Tyckte om Great campsite, lovely showers and toilet set up. We were able to empty motorhome of waste and fill up with water.

Tyckte inte om The noise, as it was at a working stables we were woken up at 6am both mornings with loud continuous bangs. The pitches are so close together so no privacy. No fridge/ freezer to refreeze ice blocks. Had to use a code to get into each toilet which is weird. Bins over flowing. It seemed like campsite is secondary and just an add on to make money.

Tyckte om Fantastic host, friendly and kind, greeted us and personally showed us to our pitch.
Beautiful small, rural site surrounded by trees and lovely views.
Clean toilets and showers

Tyckte inte om Unfortunately it there were several other pitches being quite noisy late into the night. Nothing wrong or do to with the site/ owners but could maybe introduce a quiet period.
Not a dislike or problem for us but to be noted the site is based on a farm with lots of horses so expect noise from them during the night/ early hours.

Tyckte om The rural location was lovely and there weren't too many pitches. They were arranged in 3 tiers with big trees in between the tiers (about 6 pitches in each tier), so you weren't looking out on large numbers of other campers. Carolyn was really welcoming and helpful. The toilet/showers were always spotlessly clean and although there were only 3 unisex toilets (2 had showers) we didn't experience any queuing issues. There was also a pot washing facility (though it wasn't undercover) and rubbish bins and waste disposal (not listed on the website list of facilities). You could park next to your tent, so long as it was within your allotted space. My daughter loved seeing the horses. It was a really quiet site, although 2 pitches at the far end of our tier were playing music for a time that could be heard at our end.

Tyckte inte om The pitches weren't large and they were very close together indeed. Larger tents went pretty much right up to the next-door neighbours if they pitched sideways to put the car in front. Having said that, pretty much all campers were quiet and respectful, so there wasn't really any disturbance. We did take a windbreak to offer a bit of privacy between the pitches. There's no big open space for the kids to play - only what space is left on your own pitch.

Tyckte om Quiet and simple. Perfect. Close to town with supermarket etc but beautiful peaceful rural location. Toilets and shower spotless.

Tyckte om A lovely small campsite with only 17 pitches split across three rows. The owner was thoughtful and had created an adults row vs a row where children were allowed. We had 3 dogs with us, The campsite has horses roaming round the fields surrounding the pitches. The facilities were spotless. The owner recommended the White Horse to us, a pub about a mile down the road, and the food here was spectacular.

Tyckte om Me and my friend had a wonderful stay at Ilex farm camping! The toilet and shower facilities were always kept clean and stocked of toilet roll. The site was well looked after and had a lovely view of the fields. Caroline was ever so kind to offer us jump leads as we had issues starting one of the cars too! Definitely would come again!

Tyckte inte om Pitches were a little close together for me. Luckily the site wasn’t full whilst we were there. However if it was full it may feel a little cramp for some. Just my opinion. The loo’s and showers had codes to get in which was odd and mildly inconvenient on a self contained site. The tiered camping set up is nice but doesn’t offer much in the way of views unless you get a plot at the edge of the site.
