Окт 17 2014 Автор Samantha Marsh
Perfect for romantic getaways or active winter breaks for families and groups, outdoor accommodation specialist Pitchup.com offers its top winter accommodation experiences.
From quirky huts and plush pods to high-tech lodges or contemporary-style holiday homes, there is something for everyone.
Founder Dan Yates says “Once deemed a ridiculous winter option, the unseasonably hot weather this October is prompting many to consider outdoor accommodation options for their upcoming breaks. With an increasing array of properties available, we expect to see many more look at winter lodges for a getaway this year than in previous years.”
Contemporary luxury
Chic furniture, bold wallpaper and a kitchen bigger than some country homes is offered at Shaftesbury on the Green Luxury Lodges. These stylish and contemporary holiday homes are a brand new experience for holidaymakers.
Each of the spacious three-bedroom lodges can accommodate up to five people and feature all the home comforts to make a perfect winter break. The lodges are heated and double glazed and come with a gas fire, large modern fitted kitchens, widescreen TVs and even a decked veranda for warmer days.
Visitors have full use of the site’s fitness suite and can enjoy treatments in the spa, pick up gifts and essentials in the shop or relax by the lake for an afternoon of fishing. The rural location on the borders of Dorset and Wiltshire means visitors have a range of attractions on the doorstep, from the fun adventures at Longleat Safari Park and the history and culture of Stonehenge, to the brisk winter strolls to be had on Dorset’s Jurassic coastline
Lodges are available for seven-night breaks with prices starting from £495.
Rustic shabby chic
Wannabe Kirstie Allsopp types will love the reclaimed furniture and shabby chic style of North Lodge in Boncath, North Wales.
This quirky log cabin sleeps just two people and has been fitted with unique reclaimed furniture including a solid wood wardrobe and a cottage-style three-piece suite.
Visitors will need to bring their own entertainment and bedding but the cabin offers a living and dining area, bedroom, and a woodburner for cosy nights in. At the front of the property is a covered area for cooking.
There is no electricity in the lodge but lighting is provided via LED lights powered by a photovoltaic system.
The lodge is located in a remote part of Pembrokeshire, suiting couples looking for a real break from reality and the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
At just £40 per night for accommodation, it’s a great option for those on a budget too.
High tech
Can’t bear to be away from all the high-tech gadgets and gizmos of modern life? Fear not, the three-bedroom lodges at St Tinney Farm in Cornwall are the perfect place.
These luxury lodges can sleep up to six people and come with everything one could need for a holiday including a 37-inch TV, DVD player, iPod dock, free Wi-Fi, two large leather sofas, a fully-fitted kitchen and large bathroom plus an additional cloakroom with toilet and washbasin.
The kitchen has a wide array of cooking utensils and crockery so dining in is an easy affair, although with a bar and restaurant on site, visitors can enjoy a cooking-free holiday!
The lodges are double glazed, insulated and fully heated. There are radiators in all rooms plus a wood-effect electric fire in the lounge.
Lodges are available for stays as short as just one night and cost from as little as £75 per night.
Other facilities on site include five fishing lakes while local attractions include Tintagel Castle and the Eden Project.
Quirky
If the idea of sleeping in a house that looks like something out of Harry Potter is appealing, look no further than the pods at Coastal Valley Camp and Crafts.
These fun hexagonal homes can sleep up to four people and come with an adjoining ensuite pod, fire, lighting and kitchen area. Visitors need to bring their own camping equipment and bed linen but gas bottles, fairy lights, blankets and coal are provided.
The brand new site opened in 2014 and also offers guests a chance to brush up on or learn new skills including silk painting and woodwork. In busier periods there is a pop-up Victorian tearoom and themed communal feast evenings including pizza nights and hog roasts. A nature trail winds itself around the site where rabbits, deer and stoats can all be spotted and lucky autumn visitors can pick their own blackberries, sloes and rosehips from the hedgerows...why not brew up your very own gin?!
There is a minimum four-night stay on the pod which costs from £336 for four nights.
