Deciding upon a beach is your biggest task this getaway – and what a fine dilemma to have at hand, really. One choice is Spiaggia di Foddini (five minutes’ drive), a long beach with a small lake and typical Med greenery. Another is Spiaggia Sa Marina (10 minutes), a pebble beach with a bar service and easy roll-up parking spots. Perhaps one day you’d like to trade the ocean for some waterfalls. That won’t be difficult, as a series of small waterfalls (as tall as several metres) surrounded by junipers and oaks are over at Piscine Naturali Di Monte Ferru (Is Piscinas) (20 minutes). More – and bigger – waterfalls are easily reached further afield, such as Canyon Rio Baccileddu (35 minutes) To the north, your explorations might bring you to a series of towers built in the Bronze Age. There are over 6,500 such structures in Sardinia, but the Nuraghe Sellersu (20 minutes) are as tall as 19 metres.
