It doesn’t matter whether you’re in the saltwater pool or tucking into a typical Sardinian breakfast: the gorgeous countryside is going to be a treat whatever you're doing at Sa Jana Holidays. As you stroll away from the site, you'll notice that the only interruption to this gorgeous rural scenery are the sea (two kilometres to the east) and the mountains (two kilometres to the south). Within half an hour’s stroll of Sa Jana Holidays is Spiaggia di Museddu’s golden sand and deep seabed, where snorkelling is popular. At windy times, windsurfing and kitesurfing could occupy your morning hours – although you may like to find a spot in the shade of the green pine trees instead. This area on the east coast of Sardinia is no stranger to slopes. Viewpoints in Monte Ferru are only 20 minutes’ drive away. There are also plenty of organised excursions to join locally, whether it’s a boat trip, a wine or beer tasting in local cellars or local history workshops. A strong appetite is natural after the day’s activities, and handily it’s possible to have dinner on site as long as you make a reservation. Breakfast is available too. Tuck into any snacks or self-made meals in the picnic area too, which has a sink (with both hot and cold water). The saltwater pool and gym are on hand for folk who want to have a paddle or a workout. They’re shared between the motorhome pitches, along with a bathroom. When it comes to the pitches themselves, each one is set on gravel near a woodland. They’re seven metres wide and equipped with running water and electric hook-up (there are four sockets at 1.5kw).

Attractions à proximité

Deciding upon a beach is your biggest task this getaway – and what a fine dilemma to have at hand, really. One choice is Spiaggia di Foddini (five minutes’ drive), a long beach with a small lake and typical Med greenery. Another is Spiaggia Sa Marina (10 minutes), a pebble beach with a bar service and easy roll-up parking spots. Perhaps one day you’d like to trade the ocean for some waterfalls. That won’t be difficult, as a series of small waterfalls (as tall as several metres) surrounded by junipers and oaks are over at Piscine Naturali Di Monte Ferru (Is Piscinas) (20 minutes). More – and bigger – waterfalls are easily reached further afield, such as Canyon Rio Baccileddu (35 minutes) To the north, your explorations might bring you to a series of towers built in the Bronze Age. There are over 6,500 such structures in Sardinia, but the Nuraghe Sellersu (20 minutes) are as tall as 19 metres.
