Time to explore? You could easily start by getting out on one of the walking or cycling trails that run from the site, or perhaps saddling up for a ride from the local stables (10 minutes’ drive). There are plenty more options over in the Sainte-Baume Natural Regional Park (25 minutes), a place that’s got great landscapes for hiking, mountain biking and climbing. If you’d like something a little less active, perhaps go instead for a wander through the vineyards at Domaine de Trians (10 minutes) or some fishing at Lac de Besse (20 minutes). There’s also plenty of history to take in – maybe you’d like to explore the ruins of medieval Château du Castellas de Forcalqueiret (15 minutes) or try the interactive exhibitions at Royal Abbaye de la Celle (20 minutes). For some urban wanders, head to Toulon (half an hour) for the Old Town and cable car, Barjols (45 minutes) for a traditional Provençal village experience, or Aix-en-Provence (55 minutes) to see where Paul Cézanne lived and worked.
