There's stacks to do within a few kilometres of the site, such as the swimming and fishing 150 metres away; surfing, sailing, windsurfing and paddleboarding in Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez (three kilometres), and horse riding within five kilometres. Two big family attractions are a kilometre away: the Feeling Forest tree climbing adventure park and the Atlantic Toboggan waterpark, open daily throughout the summer months. The kids should also like a boat trip to the arty little island of Île de Yeu, reachable from Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie five kilometres away. This is excellent land for cycling, with several nearby paths including La Vélodyssée Atlantic cycling route; take the 17-kilometre route from St-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie towards Brétignolles-sur-Mer and Brem-sur-Mer, and from there if you fancy it pedal another 20 kilometres or so to reach Les Sables-d’Olonne. For hikes, you could try the coastal paths of the Côte de Lumière or wander through the Vendée Marshes; golf is eight kilometres away, and if you want to dive into the tale of the Vendée's wetlands, Le Daviaud open-air museum is within 20 kilometres.
