Castle How Wild Camping

With its privileged position in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Castle How is gateway to all levels of walks from challenging to family friendly. Take your binoculars to look out for raptors during jaunts along the challenging Howgills Trail from Sedbergh (15 minutes’ drive), or test your mettle on a third of the Three Peaks Challenge at Ingleborough (45 minutes). If kids are with you, take a gentle stroll around the arches of Ribblehead Viaduct (45 minutes), or walk the short distance from the road up to impressive Cautley Spout waterfall (20 minutes). Tick Yorkshire Dales hotspots like Hawes (40 minutes), Buttertubs Pass (45 minutes) and Aysgarth Falls (an hour) off the bucket list, and learn more about the area with a visit to Dent Village Heritage Centre and Museum (25 minutes), an intriguing mash-up of farming implements and tractors. Turn towards the west for days out in the Lake District National Park (half an hour). Windermere (35 minutes) is gateway to boat cruises on the lake, and most kids will love the cute Peter Rabbit dioramas at The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction (40 minutes).
