Gostou the whole campsite, was so small but everyone was so friendly and the owner was absolutely lovely!

Gostou Lovely small setting. Clean and well maintained. Owner/manager very helpful with any enquiries. Family site but also very welcoming to solo travellers; felt safe. Only a few minutes walk to get on the Cleveland Way with easy access to Cayton Bay, Scarborough and Filey. Am planning on staying here again.

Gostou Great little site. Loved the small family friendly feel and the owner was fantastic. Great communication before we arrived and came round a few times to check we were all OK. Worked hard keeping the facilities clean. Four toilet/shower/sink cubicles which were kept really clean. We'll be back again before the end of the summer to squeeze in another quick camp. Lovely location too.

Gostou Nice view, nice walk to the beach. Friendly host .

Não gostou Toilets were dirty and smelled. The camp was crowded . Not anyone's fault but the amount of flies was horrendous.

Im so sorry you found the showerblock dirty its cleaned daily you must have used it inbetween the cleaning cycle.Majority of my customers comment on how clean the facilites are so im surpeised by your comment, the smell was caused by farmers spreading muck & this also caused the flies on that occaission.We try to mitgate this with fly spray,regular&daily cleans, extractor fans in each wc to keep it cool & an outta door to the showerblock to stop flies getting in.We are in open countryside surrounded by beautiful views & amenities & on an hourly bus route walking distance to The Plough Pub

Gostou The site owner is lovely & very accommodating (even remembered it was our 1st wedding anniversary) and allowed me to use a plug socket for a hairdryer. She works extremely hard to keep the site well maintained.
There is a fantastic farm shop next door, selling a variety of fresh produce aswel as serving both food/drink with lovely staff. You can take your dogs to the outside seating area & they are offered free doggy biscuits. It takes around 20mins to walk to the beach on a mainly traffic free path, the surf shack also has some cold drinks & snacks available. There is a car park at the surf shack for those who would rather drive parking fees are reasonable or you can park roadside for free. If you walk to the left of the site past the farm shop there is a public footpath through another local farm that takes you directly to stunning cliff top views & walks. Its also a short walk to a local pub. We have been to many Camp sites & on 1st glance i thought it was too small but actually, we found it a much nicer experience with a smaller group of campers. We also took our 5 month old puppy so it was perfect for her introduction to camping. All in all, we had a great experience & would definitely visit again.

Não gostou Flies - However, being surrounded by working farms its to be expected. Also, be aware that the path that leads from the surf shack to the beach is quite steep, in steeper parts hand rails are available. Once at the bottom you have the choice of stairs or a sand bank to access the beach.
The add was a little confusing as it stated "traffic free path to the beach" so once the path ended we thought was had missed a turn but we did need to walk on slightly to find beach access. Maybe make directions a little clearer as we weren't the only campers who got lost.

Gostou Didnt stay long enough to be able to comment and certainly would not return.

Booked 3 weeks in advance for a tent EHU and pup tent. Called at 5pm to inform would be slightly later than the 630pm. The call was answered with complete confusion to our booking, asking if we had a trailer tent.
On arrival and after 20 minutes and 6 unanswered calls we discovered the only pitch available would only take a tent with no EHU or pup tent. Spent 40 minutes with the owner insisting she could run a lead through other campers tents and cover the lead with bits of old carpet. The pitch was in the centre section of the field, EHU post on the perimeter, no way the cable would reach, a recipe for disaster and an obvious health and safety issue.
If we had decided to stay without electric on this pitch our guide ropes would have been overlapping those of the tent next door, I have never seen so many tents crammed in to such a small site. How fire pits are allowed is beyond me.
This left us at 8pm on a Friday night looking for another site. A bit of honesty on our first phone call at 5pm would of gone a long way.
On asking for a refund the owner astonishingly asked to take a photo of my debit card which I politely declined and requested a cash refund £98 for 2 nights. All in all, without a shadow of doubt, the worst site I have visited in 30 years of camping. Read the rest of the reviews and beware they are not kidding about the flies.

Do gestor: As you know full well you entered the campsite later than you had stated in your earlier messages it was more like 8:30pm.Which caused disturbances to other campers.
You were rude & abrasive & causing a scene i was more than happy to see you go.

Gostou Good location, near to the beach, local pub, nearby shop.

Não gostou There were a lot of flies - nothing the site could have done but it was unpleasant.
The shower and toilets were mixed sex and basic with the water often being cold.

Gostou Warm greeting. Good facilities. Excellent location.

Não gostou Tricky to do anything about but the flies were a nightmare. It was like the battle of helms deep in my tent (I was heroic Aragon and flies the urak-hai).
Also the 10am leave by time felt rushed. An extra HR would have been massively helpful.

Gostou Had a 2 night stay. Fairly convenient location for our needs.
Facilities were ok but toilet roll was in short supply in the mornings - thankfully we had taken our own emergency roll.

Não gostou Looking at other reviews we could have just been unlucky, but there was an obvious lack of quiet hours or enforcement of them. One night music was going until at least half one and was still noisy with loud talking until at least half 3.

Tents without ehu were quite closely pitched together.

Appreciate the site can’t do much about it but the amount of flies present was off putting - would recommend taking your own deterrents.

Do gestor: Thankyou Ellie for taking the time to Review The Paddock Campsite.I must say that in terms of noise you were indeed unlucky last weekend as usually my site is quiet & campers adhere to quiet time after 10:30/11pm.The individuals creating the noise on Friday were spoken to several times & were subsequently asked to leave next day due to their disturbances.In terms of the non electric pitches these were marked out with posts & a few were in the same group & like to be pitched close together which they can be as they are non electric & this wasnt a problem indeed many campers spoke to me & said what a great ' Vibe' the Site had. Location wise The Paddock Campsite YO11 3NT is ideal for walkers & a very handy 10 min drive to Filey & 15 to Scarb.The Plough Pub & The Bull at Gristhorpe have been favourites amongst campers & glampers this season & many comment of the big portions at The Plough & great food at The Bull so Im very surprised by your comment.Further Cayton Bay beach is walkerble (20mins) & has surf school & Salty Dog Cafe so too is The beautiful Cleveland Way & many swimming pools & towns are extremely accessible drive from site so the location is ideal for many activities.
