Preston Campsite

Gostou I don't normally give reviews but I think this site needs one. The location was very nice and had a large field with some more space tucked away around the corner by the side of the river. I also liked the the fact that we didn't have to leave until 4pm on the day of departure.

Unfortunately that's all the praise I can really give. The place was very hard to find. There was one signpost - an amateurish black painted sign on a wood background making it almost impossible to see in the day and impossible at night. The entrance to the site/field was a bumpy and stony dust path.

The field itself was unkempt and the grass long. There was only one tap and a sink producing running water - right up at the top end of the field. There were no showers or toilet block/cubicles. What they did have were four portaloos next to each other and they were horrendous.

I really wouldn't want my dog to do his business in them, they were vile. The 'flush' basically consisted of pushing the excrement down into a bigger bowl at the bottom of the toilet but still very much in view. Unfortunately at times, the 'flush' wasn't strong enough and the excrement and bloody period products just remained in the upper part of the toilet itself (inches away from the seat!) The smell was revolting. There was no privacy either as you could very clearly hear the person next to you doing their business.

There were toilet facilities in the glamping field but the farmer/owner made it clear, albeit politely, that this field was put of bounds to those who were not glamping!

There were no basic rules enforced as there was nobody there to enforce them. The farmer would come round in his vehicle every now and then. People were playing music and lighting fires into the middle of the night, which is fine if that's what you want.

Não gostou The portaloos were hellish. Revolting, stinking and the smell was overwhelming.

Gostou Great location, chilled relaxing site. Ideal for water based activities & wider visiting the area.

Não gostou Shame there is no showers (but the river was ideal to swim & bathe in & limited toilets ( but I was there on busy bank holiday weekend so that’s understandable)

Could do with a few extra toilets for/nearer the riverbank pitches. But this is only a small minor!

Gostou Lovely spot right on the river bank. Access to the river by some steps, so easy for paddle boarding etc. Lovely walk to the yew tree pub. Site has portaloos and you can also pay for showers . Have recommended to friends and will be returning.

Gostou This campsite is a lovely riverside location on the Wye, beautiful and peaceful atmosphere. The owner was friendly and approachable and very helpful and welcoming too.

Plenty of space and flat as well, if you want a space by the river get there early. We saw canoes. SUPs and fisherman there.

Our dog loved the river, and we found a spot suitable for his needs. And enough space to walk. Its a fab location for seeing the stars at night.

We were on the basic Campsite but there was Glamping facilities available

Gostou Large field with plenty of space and level pitches, peaceful area and beautiful clean river. The owner was very friendly, he would come over everyday to say hello and ask if everything is fine.

Não gostou We were there for one weekend so we didn’t mind it, but the lack of showers for tent campers can be an issue for some.

Gostou Lovely campsite in beautiful countryside, access to the Wye River for swimming. Very helpful owner. Would recommend

Gostou Right next to the river Wye. Perfect for paddleboarding. It is a very basic campsite with access to only a few toilets but the great location is what made it for us! Will visit again

Gostou Gorgeous position on the river, swimming from the site. Portaloos basic but clean and tidy. Level pitches, plenty of space, nice and quiet in the evening- no traffic noise. Good pub less than half hour walk
