Nirikos Camping

Gostou Clean facilities, pool, friendly and helpful staff and good food in the restaurant.

Não gostou Location was further up an unmade mountain track than was described. 1.4 km to main road via the unlit track and a further 0.5 km before any bars or restaurants.
The olive groves around the site had noisy and vicious guard dogs that barked nearly all night and every night, with cockerels further adding to the nighttime cacophony keeping us awake.
The camper pitches were undercover making solar panels useless.
The covers were supported by heavy metal frames that acted as faraday cages preventing mobile and WiFi signals at the pitch.
There was no drive over grey waste faculty for campers.
The advertised mini market was nothing more than two or three shelves of very basic provisions and a cooler for drinks.
The advertised regular evening entertainment was non existent and speaking to staff it seemed it only happened occasionally.
Finally the cost of electric was expensive in comparison with similar sites, and required the purchase of prepaid token cards, which f you were staying a short time only would prove wasteful.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are pleased that you found our facilities clean, enjoyed the swimming pool and restaurant, and found our staff friendly and helpful. We would, however, like to clarify each of the points raised so that future guests have an accurate picture of Nirikos Camping.

Location and access: We would like to make an important distinction here. The road shown in your photographs and referred to as an “unmade mountain track” is a public road and is not part of Nirikos Camping or our property. We neither own nor maintain this road. Its maintenance is the responsibility of the local authorities, and we have raised its condition with them repeatedly.

Our exact location is clearly shown on the booking platform and on online maps before a reservation is made. Nirikos is situated in a peaceful rural area among olive groves and is not advertised as being directly on the beach or in the centre of a resort.

Lefkada is a Greek island with many rural, narrow and sometimes uneven local roads, particularly away from the main routes and when travelling towards beaches, villages and countryside locations. This is part of travelling around the island and is not something an individual accommodation provider can change. We completely understand that this type of access may not suit every traveller. Guests who find navigating rural island roads particularly uncomfortable may be happier choosing accommodation in a more urban location or a mainland destination with the type of road infrastructure they prefer. However, we do not believe it is fair to present the condition of a public road outside our property as a deficiency of Nirikos Camping.

Dogs and cockerels: We understand that nighttime noise can be frustrating. However, the dogs and cockerels mentioned in your review do not belong to Nirikos Camping. They are located on neighbouring private properties and farms outside our grounds. Unfortunately, we cannot control animals belonging to other property owners.

Covered camper areas and solar panels: The shade structures are intentionally provided to protect guests, tents, caravans and vehicles from the strong Greek summer sun. Naturally, solar panels positioned underneath a shaded area will receive less direct sunlight. Guests who depend heavily on solar power are welcome to discuss this with us so that our staff can advise them on the available options.

Mobile and Wi-Fi reception: Mobile reception is provided by the respective telecommunications networks and can vary according to provider and location. Physical structures can also affect reception. Wi-Fi coverage outdoors can similarly vary depending on distance, vegetation and obstacles. During your stay, you told us that you were able to use the Wi-Fi in the pool area. We do not advertise guaranteed uninterrupted Wi-Fi or mobile reception at every individual camping position.

Grey-water disposal: We need to correct this point, as Nirikos Camping does have a drive-over grey-water disposal facility for campers and motorhomes. During your stay, you did not ask our staff about grey-water disposal or where the facility was located. Had you asked, our team would have been happy to show you where it is. We therefore feel it is important to clarify that this facility was available throughout your stay.

Mini Market: Our Mini Market is a small campsite convenience shop providing basic provisions, drinks and everyday essentials for our guests. It is not intended or advertised as a full-sized supermarket.

Evening entertainment: Entertainment and events are organised on selected evenings and during particular periods of the season. They are not a nightly programme. We appreciate the feedback and will make sure that our online information makes this distinction as clear as possible.

Electricity: We would particularly like to clarify this point, as guests are not charged a fixed daily electricity fee. Electricity for campers and caravans is prepaid according to consumption. The available options are €6 for 8.5 kWh, €10 for 14.2 kWh and €20 for 28.5 kWh. Guests can therefore select the amount appropriate to their expected consumption, with the €6 option available for guests requiring only a small amount. This system means that guests who use very little electricity are not required to pay the same fixed daily charge as guests with much higher consumption.

We always welcome constructive feedback and continually look for ways to improve Nirikos Camping. At the same time, we feel it is important for future guests reading reviews to distinguish between our facilities and services, facilities that were available but simply not requested, and matters outside our property and control, such as the condition of a public road, animals on neighbouring properties and mobile-network coverage.

We are genuinely pleased that you recognised the cleanliness of our facilities, our swimming pool, the food in our restaurant and, most importantly, the friendliness and helpfulness of our staff. Our team works extremely hard throughout the season, and your positive comments about them are sincerely appreciated.

Regarding electricity, we would just like to clarify that we do not charge a fixed daily fee. Our prepaid system charges guests according to their actual electricity consumption, so guests who use less electricity pay less. We believe this is a fairer system than applying the same daily electricity charge to everyone regardless of consumption.

Gostou Personale gentile e disponibile. Struttura veramente nuova pulita e confortevole. Molto bella l'aria cucina comune con le panche dove poter consumare i propri pasti. Bello il giardino in sé con molte piante e fiori. Buona la posizione tra nidri e Lefkada un po' lontana per visitare le spiagge del sud-ovest

Não gostou L'unica cosa è che non è sul mare e che bisogna per forza avere un mezzo di locomozione.

As you correctly mentioned, Nirikos Camping is not directly on the beach. Our location between Lefkada Town and Nidri makes it a convenient base for exploring different parts of the island, although having your own vehicle is certainly the best way to discover Lefkada and its many beautiful beaches, especially those on the southwest coast.

Gostou Very clean camping, decent food, good prices

Não gostou Grass at the pitches attracts wasps. The pool has an antislip surface that scratches sensitive feet. Longer distance to the beach.

Regarding the wasps, Nirikos Camping is surrounded by nature and insects can occasionally be present, particularly during the warmer months. We carry out regular professional pest control throughout the campsite, but unfortunately it is impossible to completely eliminate insects from an outdoor natural environment. Our grass, trees, plants and gardens are an important part of the character of the campsite.

The swimming pool has a non-slip surface specifically designed for safety and to reduce the risk of slipping, although we understand that it may feel rough on sensitive feet.

As for the beach, Nirikos Camping is not located directly by the sea, and our exact location is clearly shown before booking. Having a vehicle is the best way to explore Lefkada and its many beautiful beaches.
