Small but perfectly formed... to the point of luxury, activities galore and your supper sorted several times a week... heave a happy sigh at Domaine Ramonjavel.
There's much to have a sunny smile about at this Lot valley site, not least its table d'hôtes tradition several times a week, when the friendly owners invite guests to join them for dinners of meat and fish from their own smoker, alongside pizzas, tasty fresh soups and sweetly lush desserts.
And then there's the petting zoo, sure to keep the kids enthralled as they say bonjour to (and have a ride on) the ponies... and the roomy playground, and the indoor play barn for when it gets a mite too warm to play outside... (The van der Linden family who run this family-friendly place have set it up to suit kids of all ages, from preschoolers to teens.)
A pool is also on site for your luxury leisure, with a handsome solarium and sunbeds alongside (luxury sunbeds too: no slippery plastic here); fishing is available from the grounds, and bikes can be hired to explore these splendid surrounds.
And another spectacular little touch? You can have your hair expertly cut on your hol by owner Brigitte, who's tamed and snipped barnets in swish salons for over 25 years: have a word with her when you arrive if you fancy a bit (more) pampering on your sumptuous French stay.

Not for nowt is the Lot et Garonne nicknamed the Tuscany of France: the scenery is stunning, the agriculture and cuisine highly varied, and the climate is tiptop with warm sunny summers. Fortified villages, castles and wine châteaux are all nearby.
Walkers, hikers and cyclists have quite the choice to pick from; if you're not sure where to start, ask Brigitte or Don for their recommendations for trips around local vineyards, orchards, sunflower fields, forests and rivers. And as it's only a couple of kilometres from the Lot river, Domaine Ramonjavel has easy access to boating, fishing, pedalo trips and waterskiing... or you could just laze on the beaches nearby at Castelmoron and Fongrave.
The summer season (from May to October) sees specialist markets alongside the regular weekly ones of the surrounding villages, such as the May flower market in May in Nerac, the night markets in Marmande, Vianne and Prayssas, and the Saturday markets in Monflanquin, Agen and Tonneins. Flea markets are big in this region too, so hop along and find yourself a Lot valley bargain.
