If the thought of a break within driving distance of waterfalls, castles and gold mines makes you go starry-eyed, Cosmos Camping might be your missing jigsaw piece. This cosy over-16s-only site is just the place to rocket into the Brecon Beacons National Park. It's just off the epic A4069 (packed with dramatic climbs and mountain views), 25 minutes’ drive from Dinefwr and 35 minutes from the National Showcaves Centre for Wales. You’ll really get to look to the cosmos here too, as Alex and Bob (the new owners) have named the site for its location in a Dark Sky Reserve. Each pitch has a firepit (with logs available to buy on site) where you can keep warm while you catch the constellations, Milky Way and nebulas (when skies are clear). With views over the Black Mountains, it’s no surprise that walks are the real deal around here – and your dog can come too, as they’re permitted under close control (due to livestock). If that feels too strenuous, the pond and river are top picnic spots to watch wildlife in action – perhaps red kites overhead or bats in the wooded area at sunset. Come mealtimes, you’ll have use of the site’s communal kitchen facilities, including dishwashing sinks, hot water, a microwave, kettle, fridge-freezer, drying rack, 10-port USB charging station and emergency tea, coffee, sugar and milk. There is also a café-bar on site. The bathroom has hand sanitisers, flushing toilets and two shower rooms with hot electric showers and sinks. It’s tents only on the spaced-out pitches, but there’s a car park at the base of the field and garden trolleys for transporting your gear.

Gostou Great, peaceful location, lovely scenery, site was maintained to a high standard, toilet and shower block kept very clean. Kitchen facilities were essential in the hot weather, especially the fridge and freezer, very much appreciated!
Great barbecue onsite Saturday night, really enjoyed our stay and would return again without hesitation, thanks Bob and Alex!

Gostou Cosmos Camping is a super place in which to stay. We stayed here at Easter time with our camping loving spaniel. Her judgement was spot on as she took an immediate liking to Bob and Alex who run the site. As many of their other reviews note, you are immediately made to feel so welcome by the most friendly, conscientious and caring owners. It is apparent that they are continually striving to find ways to improve and develop what is already an exceptional site. We loved the mountain views, the spacious, car and child free pitches and the super facilities. The horsebox bar is a great addition too. We look forward to returning soon.

Não gostou The weather could have been better (but we still stayed an additional night) though it would feel somewhat fraudulent to have nothing but good weather during an Easter camping trip.

Gostou Everything is as described, and the drive to the location was amazing. It was the best price I found for the time we booked it, everything was provided, the facilities were really good, a nice clean kitchen with all the essentials, clean toilets and showers, and a nice seating area outside with a good view. Also, their coffee and bakery were 10 out of 10.
The customer services was perfect, we were welcomed by the owners who showed us all the facilities and easily explained everything and made our stay a lot better.
Would definitely go back and would recommend to friends and family.

Gostou The best facilities in a camping site EVER. The pictures are real and accurate. They are clean, and nicer than most hotels. Alex and Bob have thought of everything - there's a fridge, a kettle, a microwave, chargers and plugs, communal seating areas (which were lovely to use and chat to the hosts and other campers), bowls and pans.... if you've forgotten something, they'll sort you.
The little details like potted plants and the signs for the pitches make it cosy and welcoming.
The well stocked bar had coeliac friendly local ale, barista style coffee, and I saw people being delivered hot croissants in the morning!
I'm just sad we didn't book to stay longer. They have a regular returning clientele for a reason, and we will be joining.

Não gostou RINSE YOUR RECYCLING AND BIN IT PROPERLY. I saw poor Alex (host) sorting out other people's rubbish, rinsing it, and binning it properly.
There is nothing to dislike about this place.

Gostou We were greeted by Alex after parking and she was so welcoming. They gave us all the information and a little tour of the campsite. We were lucky enough to be the first to arrive that day so had the pick of our spot. Alex and Bob run a lovely site with outstanding facilities for any campsite I've been too.

Gostou What a lovely site.
Alex and Bob were very welcoming and friendly.
A small site with stunning views of the Black mountains, very quiet and peaceful. A haven for star gazers.
Large pitches with fire pits included. Lovely clean facilities, showers, toilets and a communal kitchen with fridge/freezer and microwave.
Bar on site serving teas, coffees, alcohol, very reasonable priced, open 9-9 each day.

Walking, hiking or biking on the brain? You’ll have quite the pick of trails, from Herbert’s Quarry (five minutes), a historical landmark linked to the 99-mile Beacons Way, to Usk Reservoir’s five-mile loop (half an hour) and Henrhyd Falls’ (40 minutes) walk to the highest waterfall in South Wales. Add into the mix mountain biking trails in Cwm Rhaeadr Forest (35 minutes), the five-mile summit walk at Pen Arthur Woods (five minutes) or a light wander around the National Botanic Garden of Wales (35 minutes). For the historical, there are the remains of Carreg Cennen Castle (20 minutes) along the Brecon Beacons Way, two hillforts at Garn Goch Y Gaer Fawr (10 minutes) or the native Welsh Dryslwyn Castle (30 minutes). Elsewhere, the National Trust’s Dinefwr (25 minutes) has castle remains, the historic Newton House and an 18th-century deer park. To the sky… The Red Kite Feeding Station (10 minutes) has birds of prey, while Zip World Tower (55 minutes) is an adventure hub on a former coal mining site. And below ground, there are the Dolaucothi Gold Mines (half an hour) and the National Showcaves Centre for Wales (40 minutes).
