Gostou Nice views from some parts of the site over the valley. Direct access to the river valley trail. Nice to be able to buy hot drinks.

Não gostou Shower facilities were basic and minimal. Nowhere to keep things dry as the walls and bench were all wet with condensation.
Camper van pitch was very small. Ours is a small van (Mazda Bongo) but we could barely open our rear door without overhanging at the front of the pitch.
The site is huge but due to it being on a steep hill the camper van pitches and most of the facilities are all close to the site entrance and next to the road so it felt like a small, cramped site.

Graig Wen is a small hillside campsite, with simple but clean facilities and a mix of pitches and facilities shaped by the terrain. Our "Small Camper Van" type pitches are intended for campervans up to around 6 metres - we do have some pitches which are longer. We are sorry that the pitch did not feel spacious enough for your Mazda Bongo or meet your expectations.

We appreciate you highlighting the shower-room condensation. We were not aware this was causing a problem with places to put dry clothes. We will look into how we can improve ventilation.

Gostou Lovely place! Very well organised with lots of little extras. Very clean toilets, lovely hot showers, good size pitches. Would definitely recommend 👍

Gostou * The views from the estuary field are absolutely breathtaking. Photos genuinely don’t do them justice.
* It feels almost like wild camping, but with the comfort of hot-water showers and composting toilets, which were cleaned regularly and kept really well.
* The owners are friendly, welcoming and helpful.
* The location is beautiful and peaceful, with the views being the real highlight of the campsite.
* Despite the physical challenges, we absolutely loved our stay and would come back again.

Não gostou * The estuary pitches are on a slope, so you won’t be pitching your tent on a completely flat surface. For us, though, the views more than made up for it — I wouldn’t choose another field just to have a flatter pitch.
* Be prepared for some serious walking! Carrying all your camping equipment up and down the slopes in wheelbarrows is hard work. We knew what we were signing up for, but it’s definitely worth mentioning that a reasonable level of fitness helps.
* Even the walk up to reception, the pizza area, water and toilets is a bit of a fitness challenge in itself! 😂
* There isn’t a huge amount to do on rainy days nearby unless you book one of the underground activities, which can be quite expensive and often need to be booked in advance. This isn’t really the campsite’s fault, but it’s worth knowing if you’re visiting with children.

We are delighted that you enjoyed the Estuary Field views, the peaceful setting and the feeling of being close to nature, while still having hot showers and well looked-after composting toilets nearby.

It is great to hear that the children enjoyed the hammock swings too. For rainy days families can also enjoy the local waterfall walks (free!) or the steam train rides are great value too.

You are absolutely right that the Estuary Field is on a hillside. The views come with slopes and a fair bit of walking, particularly when bringing camping gear up and down in the wheelbarrows. We do try to make this clear before arrival and offer a lift service in our Gator at peak times. We are really pleased that, for you, the views made the effort worthwhile.

Gostou ​A very rewarding camping experience if you're happy to earn your stay!

​The arrival & pitch: they provided a stunning pitch in Estuary Fields. Be prepared: when you arrive, you have a trek with a wheelbarrow to get to your spot. Is the track steep? Kinda. Is it hard work? Meh. You can always stop and admire the view if you need a break, and honestly, it's all part of the adventure!

The scenery is absolutely stunning!! Photos simply do not capture the beauty of this place. Even the owners' photos on the website, as stunning as they are, actually undersell how incredible the actual view is. An absolutely wonderful experience. ​

Facilities: the lower showers down by the estuary were super clean and hot. ​The "Tree Bog" (natural toilet) was no problem for me. My son struggled a bit with the smell, but again - part of the learning experience of real wilder camping.

​Thank you for an unforgettable stay!

Gostou We stayed for a one night stop over and the site was exactly what we needed. The location was great, great walks directly from site with amazing views. Plenty of hot water in the showers and toilets which were very clean. We were in a van but the tent site looked great with hammocks dotted around and quirky shower/loo facilities. The little shop had some local treats along with pre ordering breakfast. There was also an under cover seating area with an honesty box for ice creams.

Great site and we would highly recommend it and live to go back.

Gostou We stayed in the Orchard Fields with our two daughters (4 and 8) and our dog and absolutely loved it. Beautiful, peaceful setting with loads of space, and a great base for exploring the area. The girls loved having the freedom to explore, and it felt genuinely relaxed and back to nature. The views and the stars at night were amazing too.

The facilities were clean and well looked after, and we really liked the laid-back feel of the site. It was also very dog-friendly, which made things much easier.

Não gostou The only real downside for us was the walk from the Orchard Fields to the toilets and showers. With two young children, it was a bit of a trek, particularly when you need the toilet in the middle of the night! 😂
