Gostou * The views from the estuary field are absolutely breathtaking. Photos genuinely don’t do them justice. * It feels almost like wild camping, but with the comfort of hot-water showers and composting toilets, which were cleaned regularly and kept really well. * The owners are friendly, welcoming and helpful. * The location is beautiful and peaceful, with the views being the real highlight of the campsite. * Despite the physical challenges, we absolutely loved our stay and would come back again.

Não gostou * The estuary pitches are on a slope, so you won’t be pitching your tent on a completely flat surface. For us, though, the views more than made up for it — I wouldn’t choose another field just to have a flatter pitch. * Be prepared for some serious walking! Carrying all your camping equipment up and down the slopes in wheelbarrows is hard work. We knew what we were signing up for, but it’s definitely worth mentioning that a reasonable level of fitness helps. * Even the walk up to reception, the pizza area, water and toilets is a bit of a fitness challenge in itself! 😂 * There isn’t a huge amount to do on rainy days nearby unless you book one of the underground activities, which can be quite expensive and often need to be booked in advance. This isn’t really the campsite’s fault, but it’s worth knowing if you’re visiting with children.

We are delighted that you enjoyed the Estuary Field views, the peaceful setting and the feeling of being close to nature, while still having hot showers and well looked-after composting toilets nearby. It is great to hear that the children enjoyed the hammock swings too. For rainy days families can also enjoy the local waterfall walks (free!) or the steam train rides are great value too. You are absolutely right that the Estuary Field is on a hillside. The views come with slopes and a fair bit of walking, particularly when bringing camping gear up and down in the wheelbarrows. We do try to make this clear before arrival and offer a lift service in our Gator at peak times. We are really pleased that, for you, the views made the effort worthwhile. Gostou We recently stayed at Sharnfold Farm Campsite and had a really enjoyable time overall. The site itself is fairly basic but very well kept, with a nice atmosphere in the camping field. Despite being mostly families with children, everyone was considerate and fairly quiet, which made for a relaxed stay. We knew in advance that there wouldn’t be showers, but having even a very simple outdoor one would have made a huge difference to our experience. Similarly, washing-up facilities and the option to rent a campfire would be great additions in the future. What really stood out, though, was the farm itself. There is so much for children to do and explore – it’s clear a lot of thought has gone into making it more than just a farm with a playground. There are lots of magical little areas for kids to discover, which really made up for the more basic camping facilities. A couple of small negatives: we pitched our tent nearer the road, which we didn’t think much of at the time, but it turned out to be quite noisy overnight. I’d recommend bringing earplugs or choosing a pitch closer to the farm entrance instead. Also, we had hoped to walk over to the pub next door, but the roadside felt unsafe – cars drive fast, and the grass verge was full of nettles and brambles. We ended up driving instead, even though it was only a very short distance. If the greenery could be cut back, it would make walking much safer for families with children and dogs. Overall, a lovely stay at a charming little campsite. With a few added facilities, it could be even better – but the atmosphere and the farm experience made it a memorable trip for us.

Gostou We had the best time at at Camping La Noue des Rois. The pitches were spacious, the swimming pool with slides was everything a 7 and a 4 years old could wish for. There was a beautiful lake that we walked around every day (sometimes twice), kids enjoyed the zip wire on the other side of it and on our last day we even had a swim in the clear water. There were families of geese and ducks with their little ones, a lovely sight for the children and grown ups too. One day we had a visit from six ducklings on our pitch which was lovely. If I have to say one negative thing I would mention the washing facilities. They are very dated, they look like they have been built in the 80s but they were clean! They just take some getting used to. Nearby medieval towns (Troyes and Provins) are a must to visit and within easy reach. We also payed a visit to Disneyland and the site was only an hour and 20 mins drive away. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Gostou This was our first family camping holiday so have nothing to compare to but we were very impressed with the location and the cleanliness of the shower block. The hosts were very friendly and helpful too. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t on our side so we had to cut our holiday short but will definitely return in the future. Would have liked a playground for the children or a covered area to play games when raining but otherwise perfect. Thank you
