When you’re looking for a convenient base in Gwynedd to overnight or bed down for a week or so, Penlon Caravan and Camping has got you covered. With a handy location just off the main Caernarfon to Pwllheli Road (A499), this dog-friendly park is set on a farm within easy reach of the coast as well as walking in the Rivals Hills (Yr Eifl), golf courses and museums. The level grass pitches all have a bird’s-eye view of the Irish Sea, with the nearest (sand and pebble) beach being at Trefor (five minutes’ drive), a small village where you can also pick up basics from the shop or post office. There’s a pub (with pool and darts for any rainy days) there too, with magical views over Yr Eifl from the beer garden. Back on the caravan site, useful family facilities include a utility room with a sink, washing machine and dryer so you can keep everything shipshape. There are also a couple of spacious and spotless shower rooms, one with amenities for disabled guests. Barbecues are also welcome on site as long as you take care not to damage the grass.

Este camping tranquilo e acolhedor tem vistas deslumbrantes e um proprietário simpático. Instalações limpas, com um útil espaço de serviço. As vagas são espaçosas, mas algumas são inclinadas. Ruído da estrada mencionado ocasionalmente, mas mínimo. Ideal para explorar a Península de Llyn e praias próximas, com paragem de autocarro à porta. Muitos gostariam de voltar.

Gostou Spacious pitches and water facilities on pitches which was very helpful. Hot water in toilet area and also kitchen facilities. Great views from the field with local places in each direction. Will definitely be returning!

Gostou Mary's site is clean, well maintained and has beautiful views. It is small and has everything you need. Toilets and showers are cleaned daily and there are drinking taps located around the site so you dont have far to walk with your water. Backing on to a beautiful woodland with a stream and located in a wonderful place close to things to do and shops for essentials. We will always return year after year.

Gostou Excellent site with fantastic views. Mary was amazing. Toilets and showers spotless. 5 minute drive to where we were fishing in trefor so we were made. Can't wait for our next little trip down there fishing and hopefully Mary will have a space for us 😀

Não gostou The big spider in the shower room scared me to death. It was bigger than Mary. It wasn't there on the second day so I had a shower in peace 😀 there was nothing I disliked with this site.

Gostou Mary greeted us when we arrived and was adorable. She kindly told us about the site and showed us where to park up the van. Lovely host and would highly recommend. The daffodils looked lovely and the site is well kept.

Não gostou Sadly the rain but this was no one fault. We would love to come back in the summer.

Gostou Great site, well placed and at a very reasonable price. Mary, the owner, was extremely helpful - particularly when our 3400kg Campervan got stuck and we’d left our tow rope at home😔 (*Don’t park at the bottom end in a heavy van after days of rain).
A quick call to the neighbouring farmer John and we were out of trouble.
Excellent facilities and recommended.

If you’d like to get some exercise in, the uphill stroll to the scattered relics at Tre’r Ceiri Hillfort (half an hour’s walk) will get your legs stretched nicely. If you prefer a sporting purpose to your stroll, there’s a golf course in Pwllheli (20 minutes’ drive), or you can try the scenic routes through Llŷn National Landscape (25 minutes), some with views to the Irish Sea. There’s ambitious hiking in The Rivals (Yr Eifl) hills (15 minutes’ drive), where you can climb rocky crags for more glimpses of the sea. When you want to up the whole family’s activity levels, take the kids to master the floating obstacle course at Glasfryn Parc (five minutes), or scoot around a few laps on go-karts. Admire the vintage bombers and rescue helicopters at Airworld Aviation Museum (20 minutes), or gen up on local Welsh history with a tour of the Inigo Jones Slate Works (15 minutes), where you can see artisans at work and engrave your own slate. Travel further back in time to walk the defence walls at splendid Caernarfon Castle (20 minutes), which also has an interesting history museum.
