Adventurous types, unite, and make your way to Bryn Gloch Caravan and Camping Park. This is the type of place where holidaymakers can hike all day long, and it's peaceful too, on the banks of the river Gwyrfai with views of the Eryri (Snowdonia) mountains and the north Wales countryside. There are walking routes directly from the site – good news for those with dogs or a lust for adventure. One of the UK’s longest heritage railways, the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways, passes through the site on its 25-mile journey past the foot of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). You might want to board it yourself Caernarfon (10 minutes’ drive) and see if you can spot your patch of land as you pass by. That’s after you’ve experienced one of the boat trips that run along the Menai Strait from the quayside below Caernarfon Castle, of course. There’s a very generous serving of facilities at Bryn Gloch Caravan and Camping Park, from heated bathrooms and wifi to playgrounds and a games room. The pitches are spacious, giving you plenty of opportunities to soak in the scenery.

Não gostou Not enough light at nighttime. No plug sockets in the shower block and mirror too high for drying hair if you’re short!!

Gostou Warm clean shower and toilet block, on site cocktail van which was lovely. Knowledgeable staff when asking for siteseeing spots and walks.

Gostou Beautifully maintained site and the toilets and showers were clean. Staff were friendly. Site was almost level and only required a small lift to get perfect level.

Llywelyn cabana (duas camas de solteiro, proibido para pets)

Não gostou Prior to arrival had a ln email asking me to review my stay for the night previous somewhat unnerving.

Upon arrival I booked and paid for a double bed shepherds hut and when arrived was directed to Llewelyn hut with twin beds for which I didn’t have bedding.

Once sorted after I showed my booking details I was given keys to correct shepherds hut so we moved again. I was advised had a private toilet block with its own key. This was in fact the wrong key i was given key for the other huts toilets labelled as mine it took a while to check all the doors there were 6.

Heater in room plug in fan was really noisy would be better with oil radiator plug in. The heater was louder than the TV.

Otherwise a lovely clean hut couldn’t fault the accommodation or beautiful views.

The mix ups made what was a great night away actually stressful 😩

Llywelyn cabana (duas camas de solteiro, proibido para pets)

Gostou Nice site with lovely views, clean and warm toilets and shower facilities, well laid out with good sized pitches. We had a full service hard standing for our campervan and the Llewelyn shepherds hut, which was lovely and clean, spacious and warm. Great that fire pits are allowed and lovely to see people sitting around their fires on a freezing cold night.

Não gostou Nothing to dislike about the site if you’ve got everything you need. We ran out of gas cooking tea and if there’d have been a pub nearby we may have gone out to eat but we couldn’t be bothered driving anywhere.

Gostou Super friendly staff with really clean and excellent facilities. The location was great, quiet and peaceful, yet near to great castles and places to visit. The hardstanding pitch was great and withstood the torrential rain and wind. Loved the fully serviced pitch which worked seemlessly. WiFi was excellent.

Visit the grave, take in the views from the Aberglaslyn Pass (15 minutes) and then visit the Sygun Copper Mine (20 minutes) to learn more about the conditions in 19th-century mines. Adventurous types can tackle the fastest zipwire in the world at Zip World Penrhyn Quarry (half an hour). With underground trampolines based in slate caverns, you’re likely to work up a sweat. GreenWood Family Park (20 minutes) has traditional rides, including family-friendly rollercoasters. Where next? Perhaps Caernarfon Airport (25 minutes), where there’s an aviation museum and pleasure flights along the Menai Strait and around Snowdon?
