Whether you're planning days of outdoor pursuits or scenic steam railway rides, your holiday in Mid Wales should be off to a flying start at Henllan Caravan Park… This family-friendly site first opened in the 1960s, and it has grown into a very gorgeous spot to set down on the banks of the Banwy river, with fishing available in the river and a play area set up for those guests who have brought the whole family along. Another highlight is that there's a pub just 500 metres from the pitching field; call in to see what food and entertainment they have planned (it varies throughout the season). There’s a golf course 10 minutes’ drive away for any keen golfers and the surrounding Powys landscape has many opportunities for things like mountain biking, swimming, climbing and hiking for all the adventurous types. Shops and that sort of thing can be tracked down in Welshpool, 10 minutes’ drive away. This historic town has some gorgeous Georgian buildings and the Montgomery Canal for a peaceful stroll or you could look in on the National Trust’s Powis Castle and Garden (20 minutes) while you’re around there. For more nostalgic activities, the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway is five minutes’ drive from the site. Back at your riverside site, there’s a shower block ready for you to freshen up. The pitches themselves are all well-maintained and flat with great views, so your stay should be both comfortable and scenic. Please note that the facilities block is approximately 300 yards from the main pitching area.

Gostou Lovely quiet site positioned in a gorgeous part of Wales. Andy & Jo are both very approachable and you can tell they are wanting to improve and maintain a good standard of the site. We also popped into the on site pub, good selection of alcohol and met some of the site caravan owners who were so friendly! Toilet/showers clean too. And the little shop was handy as I forgot my toothbrush (reasonably priced too) We will be returning again :)

Não gostou Yes, the toilets are a walk away (about a 3 mins dawdle) but it is a nice walk through the site to them so wasn’t too bothered. We just bared this walk in mind.

Gostou The site wardens are very accommodating, we changed our pitch on arrival, due to more family joining us. Due to the wet weather we got stuck and the warden just came along with his tractor and pulled us to the hard standing, very friendly. Site is geared for families

Não gostou The toilets are a far way from the camping side of the site, but not a problem for us

Gostou We visited Henllan as a last minute decision and stayed for 2 nights the couple that run the site are such lovely accommodating people and really can not do enough to help!
The site it's self is well maintained, the toilet/shower block was spotless at all hours of the day and the facilities are fantastic.
There is a play area on the campsite that my children had hours of fun playing in along with a massive field with nets to play football. We took our dog with us there is a fully fenced safe area for dogs to run around safely within too so quite literally something for all the family!

We will definitely be visiting again when the warmer weather comes for the kids to play in the beautiful river that runs along the site... Can not recommend this place any more!

Gostou Lovely setting, plenty of space.
Very helpful staff, particularly Andy who helped tow me off the grass when our motorhome got stuck.

Não gostou Showers and toilets would be better if nearer to the camping area

Gostou Beautiful site the people running it super friendly and accommodating. Very clean and tidy all round great site to stay on

Não gostou Walk to the shower clock is quite far but staff are aware and looking for ways to improve this situation

Gostou Amazing spot! And great people running the site :)
Me my wife and 2 kids and dog stayed in a trailer tent and has a blast!
Has everything you need for a great stay,
A park on site right where your staying,
Has a small shack for essentials if needed along with sweet treats/ice creams for the kids, but also there is a tesco withing a 15min drive if you needed it.
Great pitches with walks right next to the site with a rope swing along the river.
Shower block and toilets which are tidy, they are a slight walk from the site but its nothing that bothered us personally.
Will definitely be going back cant wait 👍

With Eryri/Snowdonia National Park to the west and the Shropshire Hills National Landscape to the south-east, there’s a lot of hiking accessible from this site. You could set your compass towards Lake Vyrnwy (35 minutes' drive), just outside of Snowdonia, for a day of lakeside walks, watersports and cycling followed by a cream tea – or perhaps head up towards Pistyll Rhaeadr (45 minutes) for a four-mile hike with a reward in the form of a spectacular waterfall. Add some historical elements to your holiday in the Shropshire Hills National Landscape. The Mitchell's Fold Stone Circle (35 minutes) still stands from the Bronze Age and the moorlands of the surrounding Stapeley Hill make for another splendid walk. Then there are the Stiperstones (45 minutes), a cool ridge that's made up of rocks that are hundreds of millions of years old – another place for a good long wander. When you’re ready to muck into the rural way of life, head to Park Hall The Countryside Experience (40 minutes), a farm with play areas that has opened its doors for families to get involved in animal activities like meeting the alpacas or watching the pig racing.
