Green Dragon Inn

Gostou Friendly owners and nice little campsite which was clean and had level pitches. Very conveniently situated just off the main road and Welshpool roundabout. 1 shower and 1 toilet. A little park in the pubs beer garden for kids.

Não gostou I’m sorry to say that the traffic noise was too loud for us. Though this may not affect some people. We had to take our own toilet roll as theirs kept running out. And I couldn’t find any bins on site. I think the shower water pipe was also linked up to the toilet flush, as the shower would go cold when somebody would use the toilet or wash their hands. Sorry.

Gostou Easy to find

Não gostou Hi, sadly we left soon after we arrived as we were so close in our tents to a busy road, & rail crossing, then a train went past very near, which we agreed would be a difficult nights rest especially as we had dogs with us: we couldn’t move as a small site.

Gostou Friendly staff and lovely meal. Very dog friendly. Nice pub garden .

Gostou Beautiful little site with all level pitches , attached to a pub with a lovely outdoor seating area. Very friendly and welcoming family that run it. Very handy just outside the town of Welshpool but far enough out to have a real calm and countryside feel.
Will definitely return and would highly recommend.

Não gostou Not a criticism, but maybe think about placing a mirror on the opposite side of the road by the entrance/exit as this would make pulling out on to the road easier.

Gostou Lovely friendly folks that run the pub - very welcoming. The outside seating area is really nice - kiddy friendly- nice spacious pitches. Basic showers and toilets but adequate. Would stay again.

Close to the town of Welshpool, bus stop outside a 10 minute journey into the town and a great pub OWL & Pussycat
Close to Offas Dyke walking trail
Pub garden has good facilities for children to use

Não gostou Shower block very basic to the point we didn’t use it
Toilet block again requires some tlc
Not a problem for us but very close to main road, and main train line does run past the site, but you do get used to it and can’t beat a good bit of train spotting
Food was ok
No WiFi but 4G signal was strong

We visited family in Manchester and had a day in Rhyl

Não gostou It’s not for everyone the trains pass close to site so bit noisy but didn’t bother us my granddaughter loved waving to them and the road on other side of camp is busy day and night again it didn’t bother us
Both reflected in the site fees

Gostou The view from the pub garden is beautiful

Não gostou Booked this as an Overnight stop off as I thought it was a restaurant pup and we could have food and drinks before carrying on our travels next day. The grass at side of pitches is unkept.
Only 1 toilet and I shower that was unclean and smelt of dirty water. We did not use them. The pup itself smelt musty and was also unclean. No chief just the owner making food. We didn’t eat or drink there.
The pup is on a very busy road so the traffic noise is constant and all through the night - never slept a wink
Overall worst night experienced in our MH

Gostou I stopped for an overnight camp at the Green Dragon Inn during my Offa’s Dyke challenge walk, arriving late after a gruelling day on the trail. The moment I stepped in, I was met with a genuinely warm and friendly atmosphere that felt like a home away from home. Despite the late hour, the landlady kindly kept the kitchen open and served me a much-needed hot meal — a gesture I won’t forget.
The facilities were excellent, and the relaxed, family-run vibe made it an ideal stop for a weary backpacker like me. I left feeling rested, well-fed, and grateful. Highly recommended — I’d happily stay again.
