Town day or rural day – which one do you fancy today? You can pick and choose as you go when you’re staying at Little Acres Camping, in the Co. Armagh countryside two miles from Armagh’s centre (and with some great views over to the spires of the city’s two cathedrals). When those views put you in the mood for the former, it’s a five-minute drive or half-hour walk to get to the city streets for visits to those cathedrals, the museums and the planetarium/observatory. And of course that proximity means that it’s easy to get out for an evening in the pub, something to eat or to source supplies to chuck on your barbecue back at base. And when you’d rather stick to the rural side of things? There are plenty of places to get out for walks and bike rides nearby, plus activities like horse riding and fishing in local lakes (although you could also stick around on site for that – rather handily, Little Acres Camping is on the banks of the Callan River, which is renowned for its trout fishing). Back at base, the essential facilities are covered: guests have access to toilets and a washing-up area, and staff can organise pick-ups from town if you’re arriving by public transport.

Gostou We stayed at this campsite for a long weekend and had a great experience overall! The tent pitches were on level ground, which made setup easy. Our spot overlooked a beautiful barley field, lovely on a sunny day. There was a good number of toilets, so there was no wait even during busy times. There were two showers available, both clean and with good water pressure—hot water was consistent too, which isn’t always a given at campsites. Plenty of sinks for dishwashing. Use of fridge was fantastic as we were there during hot weather. Kids play area of swing, seesaw, swing ball etc was appreciated too.

Não gostou Didn’t need to use it, but cooker in kitchen wasn’t working

Fantastic place and plenty to do round about will be back

Gostou The location was excellent only a mile from Armagh but out in the country. The site was really clean and tidy and the amenities were great everything that was needed was there

Não gostou The flies need to remember fly spray

Out of about 40 campsites visited, it is in my top ten. I recommend it

Gostou I discovered a small and quiet camping among beautiful fields. It gave me from the hustle and bustle of the city and a large number of people. The owner approaches everyone with an open heart. Clean toilets and access to hot water is a great thing. Ideal for families with small children away from busy streets. I highly recommend it for weekend trips to de-stress from the city noise

Não gostou Disadvantages? People from larger cities would surely find something... But simplicity and the need to recharge your batteries for the next week is the most important thing here!

Really lovely atmosphere at this site.

Gostou Fantastic site only a few minutes drive from Armagh City. Lovely clean facilities, hot showers, good size pitches, campers kitchen with large fridge, the fabulous weather was an added bonus.

Highly recommend site, peaceful, clean, pitches kept well!

Gostou As a first time camper Im si glad we came across little acres. Such a peaceful and well maintained spot. Had a campers kitchen with fridge/freezer (which was perfect as it was 29 degrees during our stay), kettle and toaster with two sinks to wash dishes but also had sinks outside too. Had plenty of toilet cubicals and urinals for the men. Two showers which had plenty of room in them! The owners came round making sure everything was okay which was lovely! Lovely people and even connected us to the electric on our last night as it was available! Everything was within a few minutes drive from the site. My husband loves fishing and was loving the little river that was a few minutes walk down the path. Honestly couldn't recommend this place enough we will definitely be back!

Atrações locais

Start with a stroll into Armagh to see its two cathedrals (both called St Patrick’s – don’t get confused…), visit the Armagh County Museum and Armagh Gaol and see what’s on at the Market Place Theatre & Arts Centre. The Armagh Astronomy Centre and Planetarium is worth a visit too, to see the light displays of star constellations and let kids dress up and make their own rockets. A little way out of town (10 minutes’ drive from the site) is Navan Centre & Fort, an archaeological site where costumed characters bring the Celtic legends to life on guided tours. Things are rather more refined at Ardress House and The Agrory, a pair of smart stately homes about 15 minutes’ drive away. If it’s outdoor activities on the schedule, head out for walks in Loughgall Country Park (10 minutes) and Gosford Forest Park (20 minutes) or a stroll by the water at Craigavon Lake (half an hour). There’s a golf course at Loughgall as well, or you could take a tour of the orchards at Armagh Cider Company (15 minutes) for a taste of what’s known as ‘the orchard county’.
