Set on a Somerset break? It's a crafty move to grab a spot at The Den and Orchard, a family-friendly site on the edge of the Cranborne Chase National Landscape. It just so happens that there are plenty of walks nearby, as well as other days out in the local area, including fishing, mountain biking, visits to National Trust properties and the excellent Longleat Safari Park. Firepits are available on a first-come, first-served basis – either bring your own firewood or purchase it on site – for a laidback evening of cooking and flame gazing. The appointed chef can acquire essentials at the supermarkets in Frome, three miles away. If you'd rather let someone else do the honours, it's possible to order local food delivery from your phone or take a short five-minute drive to local food outlets. Facilities on site include a washing-up area and a wooden toilet block with gents’ and ladies’ toilets and showers. A games room (with darts, table football and table tennis) is on hand too, for damp evenings and general entertainment. Being just under half a mile from an A road, you may hear some road noise at rush hour or if the wind is blowing in the site's direction. Just outside of Frome, it's a bit noisier here than at a fully rural site, but it's very handy for getting around and also for ordering from takeaways in Frome or quickly picking up supplies in town.

Gostou Well maintained site with clean kitchen area and clean toliet block. Reasonably flat pitches for camping. Also has wifi.

Não gostou The traffic noise from the nearby A-road is very loud, 24/7. Even with ear plugs you could still hear the traffic throughout the night. Because of the constant noise we left a day early.

Apple Blossom chalé

Gostou Myself partener and 3 kids loved this place. Perfect overnight stay while visiting longleat. Kids loved that it had a hammock and football goals, really made their day and made our stay easier. We stayed in apple blossom lodge. Kids loved th epark. Toilets and showers were immaculate. Sign in was easy. The lodge had everything we need, mocrowave cutlery etc so we were well pleased. Thank you for a lovely stay

Gostou Die Anlagem des Campingplatzes sind mit sehr viel Liebe und Geschmack eingerichtet. Vieles ist kostenlos vor Ort wie Spüli, Schwämme, Trockentuch. Es ist alles sauber und wird regelmäßig gereinigt.
Jeder Platz hat eine eigene Wiese mit Sitzmöglichkeit, Wasser und Strom sind am Platz.
In einer Hütte gibt es einen tollen Kicker und eine Tischtennisplatte. Schläger und Bälle sind vor Ort. Für Kinder gibt es einen kleinen Spielplatz und Fußballtore und Bälle. Alles kann kostenlos genutzt werden.
Um das Areal herum liegen in unmittelbarer Nähe schöne Wanderwege, auch Frome ist über eine Nebenstraße bequem zu Fuß erreichbar. Gegenüber ist auf dem Gelände des Lighthouse ein riesengroßer Park, der u.a. ein Paradies für Hunde ist, die dort auch eine Schwimmmöglichkeit hat.
Sehr einfacher Zugang und guter Schutz des Eigentums durch Ein- und Ausgang per Code.
Sehr nette Betreiber.

Não gostou Eine naheliegende Straße ist hörbar.
Die Zufahrten zu den Plätzen sind ziemlich eng.

Gostou I have received confirmation of my booking and details of how to get there, as well as information about the pitch, by email.
The pitches are well laid out; not too big, but we’re on a trip anyway.

Não gostou Of the two service buildings, the older one is in need of some renovation – it smells slightly of mould.

Gostou The site was well maintained and was lovely and peaceful, the male caretaker/cleaner was constantly cleaning, weeding and checking everything was tip top for all the campers. We had a couple of things that we needed to speak to the caretakers of the site about regarding information and they answered our phone calls and questions with a friendly manner.

We had to get the AA to come out to our campervan and when we thought we would be unable to leave on the date we specified, they were very helpful and provisionally booked us in for the next day just in case, which put our minds at ease.

The site has a small well looked after children’s play area and also a games room with a games machine, ping pong table, table top football and a dart board ( have to ask reception for the darts, for safety reasons related to children on site which is understandable)

It’s a 20 minute walk to the closest pub and a couple of 100 yards after the pub to a Sainsbury’s.

We walked it into Frome and it is a 3 mile walk so took about 45 minutes. Frome has lots of nice restaurants and bars and a shopping precinct.
All in all the site is well placed for trips out by foot and car as Bath is approximately 30 minutes away by car.

We would recommend this site to anyone looking for a small, quiet place to stay for a weekend. With hard standing vehicle space with grass at the side for awnings etc.

The only thing that we would say is that the maximum length of your vehicle should be about 7.5m long as if the site is full you would find it difficult to navigate in and out of your space.

If you’d like your walks to take in pretty gardens and historic buildings, head to Nunney Castle (five minutes’ drive), The Walled Garden at Mells (10 minutes) or Stourhead National Trust property (15 minutes). Bath’s half an hour away for urban strolls with a Roman tinge, and fishing is 15 minutes away at Shearwater Lake for those who need a bit of a rest. You’ll easily fill a day over at Longleat (15 minutes away), driving the safari trails, visiting all the different animal areas, touring the house and pottering through the pleasure gardens.
