Calloose Caravan Park

Gostou Lovely little campsite. Shower block very clean. Outdoor pool heated which the kids used almost daily despite rain. Club house provides evening entertainment, we loved the bingo! Park and amusements room. Lots to keep kids happy. The staff were really friendly & helpful. Beautiful site, well maintained, cute little stream runs through the middle. Food was good & reasonably priced.

Não gostou Showers could have been hotter & only lasted 6 seconds before having to press the button again. WiFi wasn’t great.

Gostou Park was tidy enough.

Facilities were basic but okay.

Não gostou Make sure you drive as it’s very remote and a distance to beaches, local towns and train stations.

The showers need some work. They’re push button showers and run out within 15 seconds. The water is also not very warm which isn’t ideal with a child.

Dog friendly park and I did see some piles of dog poo on the ground.

The campsite isn't very well lit, so if you come back late at night you WILL need a torch to get around.

Also saw a large (dead) rat on my last day.

I was placed on a north facing pitch despite south facing being available. Consequently my tent and its contents remained damp for most of the day. The pitches opposite were empty for the duration of my stay so I can’t understand the logic of being placed there.

There was solid rock in the ground which made hammering pegs into the ground almost impossible. Thankfully I brought ample pegs as I bent more than I actually used!

One member of staff is quite unfriendly/blunt. My parents came down for an impromptu night and stayed nearby. I asked if they could come to my pitch for breakfast, but was met with “No”. Not “I’m sorry but that’s not possible”, just “No”. He told me they could book a day pass at £8 each but it was literally a flying stop for less than an hour to visit our pitch, have a bite to eat and head off for the day and it was “No”. Customer service skills REALLY could use some work! Not being funny but even prisoners are allowed visitors! I accept they can’t let lots of people in especially with their own cars, but is it because they don’t want unregistered visitors or more about being a money maker?

My biggest concern is I feel more can be done with the security of the park. The park has no barrier and cars aren’t given a windscreen sticker like every other campsite I’ve stayed on, which was a big concern for me. I’m a solo mum with a young child and the fact that anyone can walk in uninvited bothered me immensely. Reception is placed at the back of the park which struck me as odd, especially when there’s no barrier at the entrance. It’s a campsite in a very remote area, and a long unlit track doesn’t feel very safe to me. I guess one could argue that’s why I wasn’t allowed my parents to come to breakfast, but with security being as lax as it is, anyone can rock up anyway - I was just considerate enough to ask and do as I was told.

Gostou We recently had a lovely stay in this park. I would recommend to everyone who doesn't like overcrowded places. Our all family enjoyed the heated outdoor swimming pool. We had a lots of fun as a family. We enjoyed the best pizza ever during our lunch break. Stuff was sooooo friendly a helpful. 10 points for the cleaning lady, as showers and toilets have been cleaned regularly. Great location, close to Hayle and St. Ives. We played football,table tennis and the kids enjoyed the playpark.

Gostou Very friendly staff and family run atmosphere. Clean beautiful well kept grounds. The caravan was lovely. Pizza night on Thursday was excellent and gold value for money. The pool was brilliant and enjoyed the small arcade and the shop was very handy.

Não gostou Could have done with a few more sunbeds. However can not really fault the place.

Não gostou Shower block dirty- showers cold.
Tent pitch covered in ants.
Smoking everywhere causing tent to smell (including non-legal smoking).
Worst thing- pool was filthy- couldn’t see the bottom when in it as it was so murky

Gostou Second time staying at Calloose. We love everything on the site and the staff are always lovely! The entertainment is great and facilities are good. It is located in a good area with local beaches nearby.

Gostou Bar very nice and food was very good served in bar. Toilets and showers very nice and modern and clean. Staff very friendly.

Não gostou Pool small for size of site crowded with children so unable to swim. Pool hours are 10-6pm maybe open and hour earlier and hour later and make that adult only time. Pitches are in full sun no shade at all making it rather unbearable. Ground so hard was difficult getting tent pegs in and couldn’t use an umbrella either as would not go in the ground as so hard, even the fork umbrella stand would not go in ground. Grass like straw so constantly getting splinters in feet. Dogs paws kept bleeding from sharpness of grass. At least 5 miles to a shop to drive. Shop on site had basics but not much food. No freezer for your ice blocks which is a big necessity to a camper.
