Stargaze by night and take on cycling routes, mountain climbs and moorland hikes by day… at Bodmin Moor Camping, you won’t be short on things to do in the outdoors. Indeed, this simple, back-to-basics site is right on the Bodmin Moor and 25 minutes’ drive from the town of Bodmin when it’s time for eating out, shopping or going behind bars in an 18th-century jail museum. With such a remote and peaceful location, splendid rural views are a given, but you’ll be far from cut off. The site has easy access to all sorts of Cornwall attractions and activities – the Eden Project and the south coast are both around half an hour’s drive away, and it’s about a 45-minute drive to the north coast for visits to Newquay, Tintagel and Port Isaac. Closer to home are bike rides on the Camel Trail and other quiet cycle paths, fishing at Colliford Lake and Bodmin Moor hikes including climbs up Brown Willy (nine miles away). Outdoorsy time on site might involve getting a blaze going at the communal firepit (with a stack of wood provided), exploring the site’s woods and stream or looking out for the deer and badgers that often pass by. A distinct lack of light pollution often leads to some excellent stargazing after dark, too.

Gostou Great little pod. Really comfy bed.
Fantastic having the shower, toilet and fridge available.
Peace and quiet .
Jenny and Richard are great friendly hosts, and have thought of everything.
If you like the idea of camping but not ready for a tent, this is the peaceful getaway for you.
Good base for exploring all that Cornwall has to offer.
Although not part of the package. The neighboring Highland Cows on the moors as you drive through are gorgeous. Truly off the beaten track.
Even when there are campers in the other field, you can't really tell they are there as its all separate.
We have just returned from our second stay in The Escape Pod and are already considering a third visit. In short, we love it.

Gostou Delightful little wild campsite nestled in a picturesque valley. Great for a break from the rat race and a real step back in to nature. Very quiet site and has a nice fire pit available for use.

Gostou Beautiful place to stay, absolutely idyllic.
So peaceful and welcomed by a very friendly set of animals!
Would highly recommend for getting back to basics. With 2 boys aged 10 and 12 it was wonderful as parents to see them leave technology at home and embrace nature again.
Fantastic customer service, the owner kept us updated with last minute unavoidable changes, honestly couldn't rate highly enough.

Do gerente: Thank you for your review. Following your concerns about the shower we have moved the bell tent to the terrace below the Escape pod for next season. This will allow users of the bell tent and pod to share the bathroom/kitchenette facilities.
Washing in the stream is not for everyone!

Gostou Can't add anything to what other reviews have said . Great quite place , slight walk down to area but worth it . Owners very friendly and helpful. Heading back to book their tent for my wife's retirement.

Gostou Beautiful site, quiet and tranquil with lovely horses and alpacas in the adjacent field. Compost toilet was very clean and well maintained and the hosts were lovely. Will definitely camp here again.

It’s tricky to run out of places to ride your bike around here, and there’s something for the mountain biking fans among you too, because the Cardinham mountain bike trails (10 minutes' drive) have runs for beginners and pros and Woody's Bike Park (35 minutes) continues the adrenaline-induced cycles – so carry on with shredding up the trails. For a little less of the land and more of the water, Newquay (45 minutes) will let you take the steering wheel (or paddle) on your chosen watercraft or spend a day at the beach. And for more waterside scenery, Colliford Lake (10 minutes) has plenty on that front. Historical places, yes please… go for walks around the woods of a Victorian country house at Lanhydrock House (20 minutes) or spy on the shore from the Tintagel Castle (45 minutes), which is on its own island out to sea. Look into an old slate mine in the Carnglaze Caverns (15 minutes) and when you’re done with those history book pages, you could turn your attention to the slightly more futuristic rainforest biomes at Eden Project (half an hour) – with whizzes down the zipwire on-hand for those adventurous sorts.
