Motorcycle racing and sandy beaches might sound like a fairly unusual combo, but you do get prime access to both at Oliver’s Mount. First of all, for the sporting enthusiasts among you: this green pop-up site is part of the road-racing circuit of the same name, a historic track that sees roaring action six weekends a year. It’s a top spot to catch some motorcycle races and car rallies. Having said that, away from those motorbike-focused weekends, the site is remarkably peaceful, and an excellent base from where to explore Scarborough and its seaside attractions (10 minutes’ drive) and the coast of North Yorkshire. On site are level grassy fields for your tent or motorhome, with heaps of space for children to run around and play, plus woodland walks that ought to make your dog’s tail wag with delight. Not forgetting the pretty epic views of the coastline from this elevated plateau… From a practical point of view, there are two toilet blocks, showers and a washing-up area. Water is available too, as are chemical disposal facilities. Barbecues are allowed, and the nearest shop is a five-minute drive away. But why cook when you can be cooked for? There’s a café/restaurant within walking distance (about 10 minutes), and you get spectacular views over Scarborough South Bay with your breakfasts, burgers or locally sourced fish.

Gostou We were able to choose our own pitch, and our friend was able to pitch beside us. There were picnic tables around for our use.

Não gostou There was rather a lot of rubbish around the edges of the camping field. It was also very confusing finding the actual campsite as it was entered on a road marked not for public use and which turned into a race track.

Do gerente: Thank you for your feedback. We're glad you enjoyed choosing your pitch enabling you to be next to your friend and having the picnic tables available. We do send detailed directions by email ahead of arrival, with a map and the site itself is well signposted. Being the top of the Oliver's Mount if the wind picks up then rubbish may land against the fencing. Our caretaker goes around tidying the area up but we will get him to be more observant so thank you for pointing it out to us.

Will be coming back next summer hopefully with a car & dog next time.

Gostou Great clean and tidy campsite, lovely scenery. Clean toilets with hot water, drinking water available onsite. Easy to get a local taxi and Ubereats if you need it. Great price. Family of 5 camping with a tent for the first time for 2 nights.

Não gostou We don't have a car, so it was a bit of a walk to find the bus stop to get to the beach but if you have a car then this campsite will be perfect for you.

Wasn't overly noisy on a night as I took a 1 year old and 5 year old.
Warm showers and a warden refilling toilet rolls and paper towels in the loos.

Gostou Was very quiet, so could park next to our tent. Located at top of the hill was perfect for watching the sky at night! Toilet and shower block was clean, and shower was big enough to comfortably sort me and my son. Drinking water point and communal sink were well kept. I didn't speak to the caretaker for the duration of our stay, but seeing him around and having his number was reassuring as to the security of the site. Will definitely book here again next time!

Atrações locais

Scarborough’s two sandy beaches (South Bay and North Bay) are separated by a headland topped by the ruins of a medieval castle. At the back of North Bay, the Scarborough Open Air Theatre puts on live music by big international names, and there are more events at the elegant Scarborough Spa, built in the late 19th century. Residents at Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park (10 minutes’ drive) include meerkats, lemurs and alpacas, plus friendly farmyard animals that enjoy being fed (please only use the site-approved feed bags, though). From there, drive a further five minutes to Filey Brigg Cliffs, where you might spot puffins flying overhead. Keen to have a go at paddleboarding or kayaking, but nervous to do it in open water? Head to North Yorkshire Water Park (25 minutes), where you can try these (and other) watersports, or just bounce, slide and splash around the inflatable adventure course.
