Grownups! If you seek serenity, scenery and nature-spotting on holiday, this is the Shropshire site for you. Adjacent to the mere of Colemere and set on the lake's south side, adults-only Colemere Caravan Park is in a countryside setting on five acres of wildlife-laden land with peaceful walks all around – and a quarter of a mile from Wood Lane nature reserve, which the expert folk at the BBC describe as one of the best birdwatching sites in Shropshire. Owners Dave and Ingrid have put a lot of thought into ensuring that guests are kept comfy at this peaceful and popular little site: as well as a good range of accommodation options, guests have access to a fully-equipped and cute social area, all hand-built and including a kitchen with fridge, kettle, utensils, pots and microwave. Firepits are available on request and guests can bring their own barbecues. And for keeping toasty after that, a Nordic wood-fired hot tub overlooking the lily pond is available to hire in the afternoons and evenings for four-hour periods (couples only). Picnic tables are dotted around to place the campfire food on, and the park has well-kept separate bathrooms for ladies and gents.

Gostou My husband said the facilities looked clean. Nice flat communal area, perhaps let vans park there, no danger of rolling out of bed!

Não gostou We booked for a non electric campervan pitch, on arrival we drove onto the field and there wasn't a flat or even flatish place to park, the field is totally unsuitable for vans. You can't use your own firepit, it has to be rented even though listing has firepits allowed. Toilets are a hike away from the field also. We stayed in a pub carpark instead.

Thanks for your review , In actual fact , If you look properly , there's about 14 flat pitches , there's three on your immediate left as you enter the field , 40 m from the toilets which you must have driven passed ???? Fire pits are available for £15.00 which covers insurance [ which we have to pay ] For that you get the fire pit, grass protector ,wood , kindling & fire lighters , some make it last two or three night or you can just purchase more wood , !

Gostou Good location. Nice and quiet site. Great for night time photography. Great walk round the mere. Amenitys spotless. Fantastic man cave, lots of thought gone into it by the owners. Comfortably layed out seating, microwave. Kettle, Mugs etc. ect. T.V. Books. Games. Really nice to relax in. Fire pits allowed.. But raised off the ground. Bricks and metal plates supplied. Had a great time with my disabled son. Who loved the man cave.. Dave is helpful and polite really nice man. This was my second visit but certainly will be going back soon.. as for BAD POINTS... Can't think of anything.. 👍👍 Mark, Reece.

Gostou Me, my wife and the dogs lol liked the beautiful setting that the on campsite is in, surrounded by lots of wild life, not to mention right next to colemere mere which is accessible from the site.
The owners as well as others staying there were friendly.

Não gostou Can't really think off any dislikes straight off the top of my head so thats a good thing

Gostou I absolutely love Colemere Caravan Park. I’ve stayed twice now and already know I’ll be coming back again.

The whole site is immaculate and beautifully kept, and it’s wonderfully quiet and peaceful - the perfect place to get away from everything and properly relax. The owners are so friendly and helpful, and it’s obvious how much care and hard work they put into making the site such a lovely place to stay.

The location is gorgeous too, with the mere right on the doorstep for a beautiful, peaceful walk.

I stayed in the Badger camping pod and absolutely loved it. It was spotlessly clean, cosy and comfortable, with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. It felt like my own little hideaway for a couple of days.

Colemere has very quickly become one of my favourite places to escape to. It’s a real little gem and I can’t recommend it highly enough. I’ll definitely be back! ☺️

Gostou Gorgeous setting, fabulous barn with really lovely touches - where campers can gather, play games, watch TV, get out of the rain and even make a cuppa. Such a lovely idea. And the thoughtfulness continued into the showers and toilets where there were lovely products and essentials for people to use. Super clean and beautifully maintained in a lovely area.

Gostou First time camped on an adult only site. Best experience. Campsite was well maintained clean and organised. Showers clean and hot. Loved the log cabin facility. The area was stunning. Close to the mere and Llangollen canal. Beautiful walks. Hostess very friendly and helpful

There's stacks to do in the surrounding area, whether you want to stick close to home by foot or pedal, or drive a bit further afield to the towns, tourist attractions and landscapes of Shropshire, Cheshire and north-east Wales – the city of Chester is 40 minutes away and Llangollen on the River Dee reachable within an hour. On the doorstep, tackle the two-mile walk along the canal towpath to Ellesmere or make your way via the purpose-built circular walk and through a wooded area of rhododendrons around the mere and nature reserve, a Site of Special Scientific Interest with species galore to see like otters, lapwings and water birds. The reserve also has several deep fishing pools well-stocked with catfish and big carp; more fishing – and carp – can be had nearby at Blackmere along the towpath from Colmere. Also nearby, wander into Colemere village to see the fifteenth-century thatched cottages, listed in the Domesday Book, to Ellesmere for food festivals, regattas and boat rides on the mere, or drive to Rednal Karting, Paintballing and Laser for an exciting time ten minutes away. Castles including Chirk and Whittington are a doddle to drive to too. If being on the water is your thing, a narrowboat marina is a three-minute drive away from the caravan park and both Colemere and Whitemere sailing clubs are within easy reach. By car, the standard of whitewater rafting at Bala Adventure and Watersports will have you foaming at the mouth – a milder form of the sport, along with abseiling, gorge walking, a steam railway and horse-drawn boat trips is available over the border in Wales at Llangollen.
