Pooh! Pooh Sticks, that is – if your kids have never played it, a stay at The Green Caravan Park is the place to teach them the art. A river – the small and shallow River East Onny – runs through it for paddling, pond dipping, the aforementioned Pooh Sticks and fishing: pick up a cheap net at the site shop and keep your little shrimps entertained for hours for mere pennies. Once they’re dried off, there’s on-land nature spotting too, at the area set aside as a nature wilderness, a play area and space galore for bike riding or outdoor games. The Green Caravan Park has several riverside pitches, with others on the park island, in the two dingles, on The Plateau, in the play area field or in a five-acre meadow; electric pitches are in a separate field with both riverside and hardstanding spots. The park covers 15 acres of Onny Valley countryside in a National Landscape between the Long Mynd and Stiperstones Hills: it’s no wonder it’s been called ‘a little gem’ by previous happy campers. Dogs can stretch their paws at the dog walk and exercise area on site (please keep dogs on leads in other areas of the park and clear up after them in all areas). Food is well covered too: the popular family-friendly Inn on the Green serves home-cooked food and is directly accessible from the park (pre-booking comes highly recommended), and there are several country inns in the local area – steak and ale pies at The Crown get particular thumbs up.

Gostou Perfect for us staying here for a few days in our campervan at reasonable prices , good clean amenities, Close to the long mynd bishops castle etc walks direct from the campsite 2 good pubs selling real ale and excellent food and a small shop opposite the site all you need plus cooked breakfast to order at good prices.The owners are so friendly and have an in depth knowledge of the surrounding area.
We highly recommend this site

Gostou We had a fantastic stay over the bank holiday. I love how the kids could go off exploring without being watched constantly that's really lovely as they just went off on they're bikes, in the river catching crayfish and had the best time . Rachel and John are so friendly and just a lovely asset to the the site. The food trucks were brilliant and took the stress out of evening meals.

Não gostou My only thing was the toilets are a little dated but incredibly clean well done guys especially on the rain we had.

Gostou It was our first camping trip with our two children aged 2 and 4 and it was perfect for them, spent hours in the stream, riding bikes, playing in the play area and we liked the very close shop and pub! Clean amenities and very friendly management.

Gostou It was out first time staying here with friends and our children. Despite lots of rain we still had a brilliant time.

Our pitch was upgraded on arrival from grass to gravel at no extra cost (which was a welcome surprise for a very wet weekend)

The site is immaculate, the toilet/ shower block was clean 24/7.

The stream running through the site was lovely, looked beautiful and the children enjoyed playing in it and catching fish!

The reception area was welcoming and had a lovely little gift shop. It had a lovely small park area and indoor open barn full of picnic tablets and games/books.

The pizza food van was lovely on the Sunday evening! Great pizza!

The 2 site managers were so friendly and lovely from the moment we arrived we felt welcome. They do a fabulous job!

The children enjoyed bike riding around the site+++ ( it's not massive but plenty big enough).

There was a pub on site but we didn't have time to test run that. But it was only a 5 min walk.

Location was only 30 mins from Shrewsbury town centre, so we managed to go there twice for lunch / site seeing and a prison visit! It's a lovely town.

You can see they are putting effort into improving this campsite.

Não gostou If I could change one thing it would be a new toilet/shower block as it seemed a little tired. But it was spotlessly clean. And I could see they were starting to upgrade it. It was a good size.

Gostou Excellent little site. Very friendly and welcoming. Stream running through the site. Small play area. Pub on site serving some of the best pub food we have eaten!

Do gerente: Many thanks for your review Mark, we're thrilled you all had a good time. The food at 'The Inn on the Green' pub which neighbours us is very good, you'll have to try the food at 'The Crown' next time which is a 10min walk up the hill in Wentnor. We hope to see you all soon.

Gostou Large pitches, very clean amenities and have washing machine and dryer. Large covered area with tables and chairs, perfect for small tent campers when it rains. Lovely friendly owners, highly recommend this campsite.

Gostou So peaceful and tranquil. Stunning scenary! Nice little pub on site and another a short walk away. Plenty of nice walks along public footpaths. The staff are lovely and the ice cream sold at reception is so good!

Não gostou The grass on our pitch was quite long and could have done with being mowed. The toilets & showers are dated and would benefit from an upgrade. They weren't always as clean as they could be and the water pressure in the shower wasn't great but overall it is a great site.

Many visitors to The Green Caravan Park come for Shropshire strolls around the calm country lanes and hills, along the Offa’s Dyke path or from nearby village Wentnor. The park is between the Stiperstone Hills and the Long Mynd, which make up the biggest area of heathland in the Shropshire hills: walk the five and a half miles of the Stiperstone Ridge from the Knolls car park for magnificent views towards the Long Mynd. Folk flock to the area for the birdwatching too: keep an eye out for red kites, plovers and buzzards around the Stiperstones, which is a national nature reserve. This is also castle country: Stokesay, Powis, Montgomery, Clun and Ludlow castles are all within easy driving distance. Have a wander around the festival and foodie town of Ludlow after seeing the castle or see the castle, abbey and over 660 listed buildings of medieval town Shrewsbury, both half an hour away. Industrialists will be kept busy at nearby Snailbeach Lead Mine and historic Ironbridge and the Ironbridge Gorge Museums about 15 miles from Shrewsbury: this World Heritage Site site should keep even the urchins happy, especially going back in time to Blists Hill Victorian Town or creeping down the old Tar Tunnel. Closer to your pitch but dating from further away in time, Bury Ditches Iron Age hill fort is between Clun and Bishop's Castle: go on to the latter for more walks, access to the Shropshire Way and the country’s oldest brewery, the Three Tuns. Well-behaved urchins can be rewarded at several family-friendly Shropshire attractions: if they liked Ironbridge they’ll probably be fond of the historic working farm at the Acton Scott estate, featured on the BBC’s Victorian Farm, or getting close to the natives at Telford’s Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom.
