The easiest way to plan local adventures is to sort them out on site – staff at reception can rent you bikes or put you in touch with companies for days of kayaking, windsurfing and jetskiing. Conil de la Frontera is also a well-known surf spot, so bring your board along or ask the site staff to help you organise surf lessons. Conil de la Frontera’s beach is well worth a visit – and so is the town itself, with narrow streets full of tapas bars and whitewashed houses. Look out for landmarks like the Guzman Tower and Santa Caterina Church as you wander. There are plenty of other lovely towns to explore nearby too – a trip to Cádiz will take you about 45 minutes in the car, for example, while the sherry-producing settlements of Sanlúcar de Barrameda and Jerez de la Frontera are both about an hour away. If it’s beaches you’re after, try Los Caños de Meca, which can be reached within half an hour.
