Camping La Puerta del Sol is a swish park in a quiet green setting, between Saint Jean de Mont and Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie. Exploring the Vendée region is simple from here, as the park is four kilometres from spectacular beaches on the Côte de Lumière, and within easy reach of popular tourist destinations like the salt marshes and bike paths of the island of Noirmoutier, the megalithic dolmens of the isle of Yeu, waterparks, theme parks, treetop adventuring and the famed zoo at Les Sables d'Olonne. The Camping La Puerta del Sol team prides itself on the quality and range of its facilities: just to start off with, there's a heated indoor pool so you can still make a splash before the hot sun arrives, and a fine, roomy outdoor pool with big waterslide and a separate paddling pool, open as soon as weather allows. If you don't want to expend too much energy, make for the solarium for a spot of sunbathing on the loungers provided, or amble off for some pampering in the spa and sauna. And if you are indeed feeling active, you can use the gym or chuck a ball about on the volleyball court or football pitch. A wide range of activities for all ages is arranged in July and August, including aqua gym, water polo, theme nights, and clubs for kids and teens. Small guests are well sorted here overall, with a big playground and inflatable jungle area to bounce around, as well as plenty of room on site to play. The handsome Puerta del Sol restaurant comes with a terrace and a takeaway service. A grocery shop is also on site.

Lokalne atrakcje

A spectacular beach awaits at the small seaside town of Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez, stretching all the way to Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie in one direction and Saint-Jean-de-Monts in the other. Watersports and swimming are popular at all three of these resorts; most of the local beaches are family-friendly and lifeguarded in summer. Around Saint-Hilaire, walk or cycle the forest paths and trails behind the town, or bike to the marina and seafood restaurants and sardine specialities of Saint-Gilles. The town's also home to the Feeling Forest park, one of several Vendée adventure parks that include more treetop adventuring at Moutiers le Mauxfait's Indian Forest, and paintballing at 201 Forest Avenue in Sion-sur-l'Ocean and Le Grand Defi in St Julien-des-Lande. Within 50 minutes' drive is Les Sables d’Olonne zoo, a couple of hundred metres from the sea at Les Sables d'Olonne. Have a morning here to say hi to its endangered species and other animals, then take to the beach for the afternoon, or amble around the many swish restaurants, shops and bars in town. Horse riding, golf, casinos and canal trips on the Marais Poitevin are all in the area too: ask the Puerta del Sol team for its top tips.
