Camping Le Moulin de Rambourg

Start your wanderings around this area by visiting the closest attraction – the Rambourg watermill the site’s named after. Just a few minutes’ stroll away, this is the last survivor of the 40 mills dotted along the Yon river in the early 20th century; it now marks the start of several walking paths along the river and into the surrounding countryside too. A walk of about an hour takes you to the House of Dragonflies, an exhibition centre and garden with nature trails. Other options for rural ramblings include horse riding or carriage trips from Saint Florent des Bois, 10 minutes’ drive away, or hiring canoes from the site to paddle along the Yon river. There’s also a golf course five minutes’ drive away if you prefer your greenery rather more manicured. Family-friendly fun days out nearby include treetop trails, bodysurfing and BMX jumps at Indian Forest, and colourful waterslides galore at O’Gliss waterpark, both half an hour’s drive. Or make for the coast about 45 minutes away by car, where the choice of excellent beaches includes Jard-sur-Mer for quiet sands, a busy harbour and coastal forest walks; La Faute-sur-Mer for land yachting or Les Sables d’Olonne for a developed resort with watersports, boat trips and a popular zoo.
