Camping La Siesta

Bring your book and beach towel for hours of sunbathing on La Faute-sur-Mer's sands a short stroll from the site, or mosey along to the town's watersports centre half a kilometre away to seek advice on and kit for paddleboarding, land yachting, windsurfing and sailing. The 500-hectare pine forest surrounding the beach has an outdoor fitness circuit and paths for jogging, walking and cycling, all among a wildlife haven where you should see birds, deer and wild boar. Two natural reserves are near town too, the Pointe d'Arcay reserve to the south of the peninsula and the Belle Henriette to the north. Venturing along the coast from La Faute, the pretty harbour in L'Aiguillon-sur-Mer (two kilometres) is at the very southern end of the Atlantic coast; a few kilometres in the other direction is the hip seaside resort of La Tranche sur Mer and its 13 kilometres of award-winning beach. Quad biking, go-karting and paintballing are at Quad Evasion 85 two kilometres away.
