Stithians Lake Campsite

Polubione Peaceful site, clean and tidy shower/toilet cubicles. Great watersports on site and convenient for beaches on north and south coasts of Cornwall.

Niepolubione Water pressure in the showers could be better- sometimes reduced to a trickle depending on how many other cubicles were in use - on the upside the water was hot!

Polubione Very relaxed campsite, with very clean toilets & showers cleaned several times a day. Great local amenities with a lovely cafe next door & handy for this area of Cornwall

Niepolubione No personal touches. Didn’t speak to a soul for a week - no one that worked there even checked us in.
If you like rocking up without any personal attention or even a “hello” then this will work.
Also the camp site seems to be very independent from the lake. It was still £13 per day per board to go on lake.

Polubione The cleanliness of the facilities.

Niepolubione The marshals talking next to our pitch early in the morning and throwing stones at each other. We didn't know their was a big event on. Would not recommend pitch 1 as it was also used at a walk through for some dog walkers.

Really loved the whole experience

The position of the tent would have been even lovelier if it had been nearer to the lake however and not overlooking a car park with people staring in as I rested on the bed. There were some lovely quiet spots around the lake that would have been perfect.
Facilities for washing were good and clean.

Niepolubione The fact the cafe was closed and it was a real disappointment and surprise in the high season also the fact that swimming wasn't allowed. Not very clear on the website and it was the only reason I chose to stay originally next to a lake.

Polubione Another excellent stay at Stithians. I can confirm that following my last review in May, the shower issue (water too hot) has now been resolved. As expected, probably just a fault when we last stayed.

On this visit the grass had been cut, which makes life easier, and the pitches are all nicely marked out, so you really can't go wrong. This time we also walked round to the dam, which I highly recommend. We're hoping to walk the entire perimeter next time.

All in all, Stithians ticks all boxes. It's peaceful, has decent facilities, and really isn't far from places such as Falmouth and Redruth.

Niepolubione There were some noisy people who arrived (you couldn't miss them revving their van), but thankfully as the afternoon went into evening, they quitened down. People need to realise that not every campsite is a hive of activity, and sometimes people come to locations such as this for peace and quiet.
