Love llamas? And so do the peeps of Catanger Llama Farm near Towcester – they have a whole herd. Want to stay among them? Read on... There are only a couple of glamping pitches at this most peaceful and scenic site, set among acres of quiet countryside and surrounded by nature and wildlife. And llamas: the farm herd hangs out in the adjoining field. Wellies are a good idea as the units and footpath are all on mown grass and this can be wet with dew in the mornings. Both units have views over the Tove Valley as well as views over llamas and are just steps away from twenty acres of native woodland where you can spot deer, hares, rabbits, badgers, foxes and many many birds. Car parking is next to the visitor centre. A kitchen and toilet and shower facilities are provided, and there's also use of a utility room with a hob where you can make tea or coffee and space for washing up. If you don't fancy cooking, several local village pubs are in the vicinity serving lunches and evening meals. And as well as meeting the llamas (especially the new mums and crias in summer), animal-loving guests can also get to know the site's horses and several friendly dogs.

Polubione: Staying in a gypsy caravan was on my bucket list and the accommodation ticked the box for achieving it. The surrounding grounds made for lovely walks which helped pass the time.

Niepolubione: There are so many ways that this experience could have been improved through free gestures to minimal cost. A chalkboard as you enter the gypsy caravan space could have had a welcome message on as we were travelling for a special occasion, bbq equipment that is fully red with rust or broken, more than one toilet roll, more than four matches to light the BBQ, cooking equipment that doesn’t have loose or broken parts, more cooking equipment such as scissors or tongs, an additional battery lantern (one provided) as there are two hooks on caravan ceiling but only one light to use. We were also unaware that there is a place to charge mobiles so didn’t bring chargers which would have been helpful. In addition, there is a sign in the gypsy caravan outdoor kitchen saying no bins provided so please take your rubbish home with you but there is no black bag or anything to put the rubbish in. These issues could have been avoided if customer service communication was better. The customer service on the day was challenging too as stated our arrival time but there was no one there to meet us for over ten minutes. A trolley was provided for us to take our bags to the caravan which was helpful but then the host comically strutted off leaving us to try and move the heavy loaded trolley across the bumpy fields to the accommodation with no offer of help or rest. Little things that could have been provided for free (chalkboard and better information before arrival) to a matter of pounds (battery lantern and cooking equipment) would have made for a better all round experience.
