Woof woof... This peaceful lakeside retreat is a veritable pup's paradise: not one, but two large off-leash exercise areas and lead walks, a lake to paddle in and heaps of long countryside walking trails to take their humans out and about on. Two licensed fishing lakes, separate from the dog-friendly swimming lake, are also on site; day tickets are available to purchase on site. Near Lydney in Gloucestershire, Forest Oak Farm is a friendly dog-centred farm estate that lies between the banks of the River Severn and the Forest of Dean, and very warmly welcomes dog owners and their canine compadres to come spend some time there; since opening in 2012, the site has been expertly cultivated by the Dodson family – who also run a fab dog training centre on the farm – to provide a scenic spacious site and a welcoming atmos to all. Set out over 20 acres of fields, lakes and woodland filled with mature trees, this is a well-equipped park with plenty of 10-amp metered electric hook-ups and a bathroom block with toilets, showers, accessible facilities, a washing-up area and a laundry room. Foodwise, you can take your barbecue bits down to the smashing lakeside picnic area for an alfresco feast by the water. The site also has two large fenced dog exercise areas. Off site, there are heaps of good places to eat out around in Lydney and a little further afield around Blakeney, Alvington, Parkend and Clearwell – just ask the Dodsons about their favourite dog-friendly food joints.

Polubione Forest Oak Farm is one of the rare campsites where the owners have created a man made tranquil wildlife site where they have sympathetically blended it with generous space for each pitch hardstanding or grass. The toilets showers and kitchen area are maintained by them to a high standard. Large fenced off areas to exercise your dogs and a seperate dog pond.
Well manicured lawns and pitches, breakfast tables and portable bbq frames to keep fires off the ground.
Friendly straight talking owners. Reasonable prices good central location to explore the Forest of Dean.
No wifi which made it a better break and not a negative thing at all.

Polubione Small site very quiet, basic facilities. Nice dog exercise areas. Good base for exploring local sites of interest. Friendly staff who left you alone and like some sites did not try to micromanage. Good TV reception.

Polubione Pitched near the lake which was delightful. This is a beautifully kept site, thoughtfully laid out with immaculate facilities, scrupulously clean. Lovely quiet site with nice walks around, close to the Forest of Dean and only a couple of minutes’ drive to town for supermarkets, etc. Highly recommend.

Polubione Location is wonderful and staff extremely attentive and friendly. We met discerning people returning from previous years. Views from the campervan across the rolling hills were uplifting. The site is large and has beautiful small ponds/lakes and 2 dog exercise areas - this was more than sufficient for our collie's shorter walks as she needs a lot of stimulation. The site felt very spacious and tent groups could locate well away from each other. Close to the forest, although not easy walking distance. Recommendation of The Rising Sun at Mosley Green for my birthday meal was lovely - right in the forest, great food and drinks, views out over a small valley, such friendly staff it was like a family home and they were so welcoming to our dog. Site, shower and washing up blocks were clean and modern.

Niepolubione We had an issue with the water temperature in the showers. One day they went cold, this was rectified and then they were too hot! The staff were very attentive in rectifying the problem as quickly as they could. We also had to book an extra pitch for our pup tent - would have preferred to be on the same pitch but they kindly put us on neighbouring pitches. Bit of noise from the A48 but only at peak times. These are the only reasons not to give 10 stars.

Polubione An absolutely fantastic campsite, a lovely welcome and chat with the owner who showed us to our grass tent pitch with electric hook up. We took our two dogs with us a Trailhound and a Rottie who absolutely loved both the two secure dog exercise fields, the dog pond and when it was extremely hot, the dog wash area to cool them off, along with meeting lots of other dogs on their holibobs too. A beautifully laid out site with another two lakes to enjoy. A lovely modern toilet and shower block which were kept immaculately clean throughout our stay along with the laundry and washing up area. A tranquil and peaceful relaxing site which is going to be a regular weekender for us to come to and just unwind.

Niepolubione There is nothing to dislike! Fantastic.

Polubione Extremely clean, and ample toilet and shower facilities. Very quiet site, well located for a stop off heading to the South West from Scotland. Close to lots of walks and for older kids Go Ape and Sculpture Park.

Niepolubione It didn’t feel like there would be a big welcome to larger family groups. It was fine for me as a solo parent with one tween and for a short out of season stay.

As a small campsite our visitors largely consist of couples and small families - people looking for some quiet time and to enjoy the beautiful and natural landscape with a wide range of wildlife. As such we do not have children's facilities onsite, there is lots to do in the Forest and surrounding areas.

Please be aware there are a number of farms using the same postcode. Do not turn off the A48 as the site entrance is on the main road. Keep going until you see a large white house between Lydney and Blakeney Village, called 'The Willows', with white painted stones around the driveway and garden. Forest Oak Farm is in a splendid spot for easy access to the Forest of Dean, the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the wider Gloucestershire, south Wales and south-west England areas. Adventurers can test their mettle on the high ropes course at Go Ape, five miles from base, and over at Puzzlewood, eight miles away, there's a walking trail that meanders through an ancient 14-acre forest filled with towering trees and rugged rock formations. At Clearwell Caves, right next door to Puzzlewood, explore its sprawling natural cave system and learn all about the forest's 4,500-year iron ore and ochre mining history. The Forest Of Dean, around half an hour's walk from the park, is full to the brim with woodland walks, cycle tracks, lakes and secluded valleys. Be sure to bring your binoculars, because the forest is home to wild boar and deer that can (and should) be admired from afar. The smashing Symonds Yat Rock is a mere 25-minute drive away from Forest Oak Farm and provides visitors with plenty of fun outdoorsy and sightseeing opps; take one of the many waymarked trails that link it with the River Wye and a number of circular walks into the surrounding forest, visit the ancient Iron Age hill fort and – if you're there between April and August – point your trusty binoculars towards the nearby cliffs to spot the peregrine falcons that nest and hunt around them. Canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding and mountaineering are available around the village of Symonds Yat too.
