Whether you're planning days of outdoor pursuits or scenic steam railway rides, your holiday in Mid Wales should be off to a flying start at Henllan Caravan Park… This family-friendly site first opened in the 1960s, and it has grown into a very gorgeous spot to set down on the banks of the Banwy river, with fishing available in the river and a play area set up for those guests who have brought the whole family along. Another highlight is that there's a pub just 500 metres from the pitching field; call in to see what food and entertainment they have planned (it varies throughout the season). There’s a golf course 10 minutes’ drive away for any keen golfers and the surrounding Powys landscape has many opportunities for things like mountain biking, swimming, climbing and hiking for all the adventurous types. Shops and that sort of thing can be tracked down in Welshpool, 10 minutes’ drive away. This historic town has some gorgeous Georgian buildings and the Montgomery Canal for a peaceful stroll or you could look in on the National Trust’s Powis Castle and Garden (20 minutes) while you’re around there. For more nostalgic activities, the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway is five minutes’ drive from the site. Back at your riverside site, there’s a shower block ready for you to freshen up. The pitches themselves are all well-maintained and flat with great views, so your stay should be both comfortable and scenic. Please note that the facilities block is approximately 300 yards from the main pitching area.

Friendly and welcoming staff, who went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful stay.

There is a fab well stocked essential shop on site .

Likte Excellent campsite, with spacious pitches. Easy checkin with a warm welcome from the owner and their lovely dog. Clean facilities and everything as expected. Really good value and included the extras such as gazebos and awnings. Stayed as a half way stop and to test the camping set up. Would recommend staying here and would return again.

Likte Andy (site owner) met us on arrival and made us feel incredibly welcome and helped my husband manoeuvre the tourer into a perfect spot to overlook the greenery. Andy and his wife left us to set up and we went and paid, they were very friendly and helpful.
The site is beautifully maintained, clean and peaceful.
There is a small play area for children, our 9 and 4 year old girls enjoyed it, there is a dog field which our little dog Otis loved running around in and a little shop on site. The showers and toilets were modern and clean, there is use of a washing machine, dryer, pot washing facilities and a borrow library.
Other visitors on site that own caravans and visited were lovely to chat too and shops to buy essentials are just 15 minutes away in the car.
It was a very relaxing, peaceful break, just what we needed and couldn't fault the price.

Likte ikke The toilets were about 5 minutes walk away but not a problem for us having a tourer. Andy did say they are hoping to build some closer to the area we stayed in but honestly I couldn't fault anything.

Likte Lovely quiet site positioned in a gorgeous part of Wales. Andy & Jo are both very approachable and you can tell they are wanting to improve and maintain a good standard of the site. We also popped into the on site pub, good selection of alcohol and met some of the site caravan owners who were so friendly! Toilet/showers clean too. And the little shop was handy as I forgot my toothbrush (reasonably priced too) We will be returning again :)

Likte ikke Yes, the toilets are a walk away (about a 3 mins dawdle) but it is a nice walk through the site to them so wasn’t too bothered. We just bared this walk in mind.

Likte The site wardens are very accommodating, we changed our pitch on arrival, due to more family joining us. Due to the wet weather we got stuck and the warden just came along with his tractor and pulled us to the hard standing, very friendly. Site is geared for families

Likte We visited Henllan as a last minute decision and stayed for 2 nights the couple that run the site are such lovely accommodating people and really can not do enough to help!
The site it's self is well maintained, the toilet/shower block was spotless at all hours of the day and the facilities are fantastic.
There is a play area on the campsite that my children had hours of fun playing in along with a massive field with nets to play football. We took our dog with us there is a fully fenced safe area for dogs to run around safely within too so quite literally something for all the family!

We will definitely be visiting again when the warmer weather comes for the kids to play in the beautiful river that runs along the site... Can not recommend this place any more!

Likte Lovely setting, plenty of space.
Very helpful staff, particularly Andy who helped tow me off the grass when our motorhome got stuck.

With Eryri/Snowdonia National Park to the west and the Shropshire Hills National Landscape to the south-east, there’s a lot of hiking accessible from this site. You could set your compass towards Lake Vyrnwy (35 minutes' drive), just outside of Snowdonia, for a day of lakeside walks, watersports and cycling followed by a cream tea – or perhaps head up towards Pistyll Rhaeadr (45 minutes) for a four-mile hike with a reward in the form of a spectacular waterfall. Add some historical elements to your holiday in the Shropshire Hills National Landscape. The Mitchell's Fold Stone Circle (35 minutes) still stands from the Bronze Age and the moorlands of the surrounding Stapeley Hill make for another splendid walk. Then there are the Stiperstones (45 minutes), a cool ridge that's made up of rocks that are hundreds of millions of years old – another place for a good long wander. When you’re ready to muck into the rural way of life, head to Park Hall The Countryside Experience (40 minutes), a farm with play areas that has opened its doors for families to get involved in animal activities like meeting the alpacas or watching the pig racing.
