Around 40 minutes’ drive away from Belgrade, Camping Zornića Kuća is in the country village of Baćevac, inhabiting another, more simple world far away from the bustle of the capital city. Spread over roughly eight and a half acres of hilly Šumadija countryside, the tree-shaded pitches have views to both Mount Kosmaj and Lipovačka Forest.
Relaxing times are ahead, indeed, as the kids can wander freely around the site (it’s under 24-hour video surveillance), learn about the countryside and take part in occasional tree-planting sessions. Younger offspring can pet the animals in the mini-zoo and get up on horseback at the riding school – there’s also a playground as well as organised activities so there’s always a place for them to let off steam, as kids need to do.
Your tastebuds are given attention too, as the site’s restaurant, found in a century-old house surrounded by gardens, has regional food and drink. Try the local cheeses, homemade pies and ajvar – a dish of smoked peppers and aubergines – as well as janija, a traditional Serbian stew made in a clay pot.
Practicalities-wise, facilities include fully serviced grass or gravel pitches, showers, a laundry service and a TV room. Any questions? The welcoming on-site team will be able to help with any problems as well as advising on sightseeing trips.

Op deze camping zijn hondenrassen/kruisingen die in de 'lijst met hoog-risico honden op agressief gedrag' zijn opgenomen, niet toegestaan (zoals de pitbullterriër, tosa, Argentijnse dog en fila brasileiro). In the mood for a good little stomp through some greenery? The Cerovac hiking area (20 minutes’ drive) is a nice introduction. If you’re aiming higher, there’s always Mount Avala (40 minutes), with an observation deck overlooking the city of Belgrade at the summit as a reward for your efforts. Mount Kosmaj (40 minutes) summit has a war memorial.
Got a beady eye on the capital? Belgrade (40 minutes) is full of things that’ll please the eyes and anyone who likes a history lesson, with a large fortress by the rivers Danube and Sava and a few museums on the country’s history. For a bit of comparing and contrasting, you could visit the city park and then check out Park Bukovičke banje (55 minutes) and its small museum in Aranđelovac – stopping by the big water park if you have time, of course.
Touch base with Vrujci (an hour and five minutes) for a day in the spa’s thermal springs or with Obedska Bara Nature Preserve (an hour) for a day of birdwatching among the wetlands.
