With the Atlantic coastline on one side and the mountain foothills of Parque Natural da Arrábida on the other, Kampaoh Sesimbra is a splendidly scenic peaceful spot for a peaceful getaway in the Setúbal area. Everything here is designed to make life easy – you'll move into a tent that's all set up and ready to move into (including beds made up), with handy furnishings inside and a tree-shaded outdoor space for alfresco relaxing. Once you’ve settled in, you can get stuck in to those all-important holiday activities – perhaps playing tennis, challenging the kids to mini golf, taking a dip in the pool or chilling out at the site's bar/restaurant. As well as having excellent family-friendly facilities, Kampaoh Sesimbra is handily located near a number of excellent attractions for days out. Sesimbra’s sandy beaches (about 15 minutes’ drive) are popular spots with calm, clear waters for swimming and plenty of space for topping up the tan, and culture vultures can tour Sesimbra Castle (also 15 minutes), a medieval fortress with spectacular views over the town to the ocean. A location on the edge of the park means active types can easily take themselves off to Arrábida Natural Park for days of hiking and cycling among its rugged landscapes and lush forests, perhaps finding a quiet cove for a dip. Day trips to Lisbon can be on the cards too – the capital city is about 45 minutes away by car.

Fancy some beach time? You'll have choices (or a list to tick off, if you prefer…) Sesimbra (15 minutes' drive) is a good place to start if you've got kids with you – the town’s Califórnia beach has soft sand, calm waters and plenty of places to find eats and drinks. Praia de Albarquel (35 minutes) is another nice option, with a fort you can climb up to in the woods behind the beach. For a wilder option, scramble down the 'goat path' to gorgeous Galapinhos Beach (25 minutes). There are several more beaches along the coast of Parque Natural da Arrábida, and you can also follow well-marked hiking trails to places like Serra do Risco (20 minutes' drive), the highest point in the park. Coasteering and dolphin watching are also popular activities here. Squeeze in some cultural history with trips to Sesimbra Castle (15 minutes), the coastal fort of Forte de São Domingos da Baralha (25 minutes) and 16th-century Convento de Nossa Senhora da Arrábida (35 minutes), or take a day in Lisbon (45 minutes) to visit the castle, explore the National Tile Museum and ride the retro trams.

Ik was blij met Friendly staff, easy to connect with in person or on what’s app.
Tent was immaculate, sleeping conditions were very comfortable. Inside the tent was amazing. Fan was a nice touch.

Ik was niet blij met Dirt everywhere. White linens inside tents impossible to keep clean. It’s a new campground so might just take time. Long walk to washroom facilities through the dirt. Washrooms need hand soap and hooks for towels. Outside seating isn’t great, unstable picnic table again in the dirt. Maybe a little deck or concrete pad would be useful outside.
