Those who stay in Madeira’s north tend to do so for its stunning mountain views and easy access to mountain hikes and levada trails, as well as to easily tour the wild north coast. These are all top reasons to stay at Eutopia Escape Glamping, as is the pleasure of staying in a fully equipped bell tent with a stargazing roof and access to a toilet, shower and well-equipped kitchenette.
Wake up in the morning to mountain views and have a little think about how you'd like your day to plan out, for there are oh so many options. You could set off onto an easy local path to forage for herbs and fruit, or try out some of the better-known trails such as the PR16 Levada Fajã do Rodrigues, PR22 Chão dos Louros, PR21 Northern Way, PR17 Pinaculo e Folhadal and the Pico Grande mountain trail, which can all be accessed within 15 minutes’ drive of the site.
Either prep your own breakfast or stop off at the nice bakery five minutes’ drive away. The site is also handily within five minutes’ drive of a supermarket, petrol station and an ATM in case you need snacks, fuel or cash.
For a lazy day, descend upon the black-sand beach in Seixal, 20 minutes’ drive away, or lay down your towel at the Porto Moniz Natural Swimming Pools, some of the island’s famed volcanic pools (only half an hour’s drive away from base).

Lokale bezienswaardigheden
First stop: Seixal (20 minutes’ drive). Black-sand Seixal beach has gorgeous views of the north coast’s forested slopes and waterfalls. For another swim, head to the town’s Piscinas Naturais do Seixal, one of Madeira’s popular lava pools.
Further along the north coast is Porto Moniz (25 minutes), with yet more lava pools to take a dip in, as well as an aquarium and restaurants for your first taste of espetada (beef skewers drenched in garlic).
In the opposite direction, Boaventura (20 minutes) and Sao Jorge (35 minutes) have access to stunning levada hikes, and Santana (40 minutes) displays the island’s triangular-shaped thatched-roof houses.
With easy access to a valley running between Madeira’s north and south coast, the site is just 10 minutes’ drive away from some of the island’s most popular poncha bars (with mountain views and peanut shells thrown over the floors) too. The Cabo Girão Skywalk (25 minutes), over Europe’s highest cape, is also within striking distance.
