Looking for somewhere peaceful to overnight that’s within striking distance of Rome? Your search may well be over. Have a look at La Riccia Ranch, 10 minutes’ drive from the pretty lakeside town of Anguillara Sabazia in Lazio, set in lush expansive grounds but yet barely 50 minutes’ drive from the centre of the Eternal City. So what’s this place offering? It has spacious, fully serviced pitches with easy (and secure) access off the road and equally easy parking – even with large vehicles. The list continues with a quiet countryside location, water fountains, a facilities block with hot showers, a laundry room and all the relevant amenities for waste disposal. The site also encompasses a covered eating area, picnic tables and barbecues, with street-food trucks putting in frequent appearances. There’s an extensive play area for the youngest guests, who will also love the ponies, donkeys and goats that wander neighbouring fields (you might occasionally find a goat at the playground). You are free to wander the prettily landscaped gardens at will, or book a private hot tub experience; if you wish to explore further afield in Lazio, you can hire bikes on site too.

Staanplaats op gras en grind volledig uitgerust

Ik was blij met we absolutely loved this place! From the moment we arrived, the owner welcomed us warmly with a big smile and personal attention.

The farm itself is very clean and well-kept, with large green lawns and plenty of cozy seating areas where parents can relax while the kids play. Our children had the best time, running between the fun playground and the animals. There were goats, a horse, a donkey, rabbits, geese, and chickens. They got to feed the goats and pet the horse and donkey, which was an unforgettable experience for them.

The atmosphere is peaceful and rural, and the sunsets are simply stunning, adding a magical touch to the stay. We only stayed for one night, but we definitely want to come back for a longer visit – it’s a place both kids and parents can really enjoy.

Highly recommended for families looking for a nature escape with animals, open space, and a truly welcoming vibe.

It seems you have the best of all worlds at La Riccia Ranch. The renowned attractions of gorgeous Rome are 50 minutes’ drive away, so you can happily spend the day discovering great artwork in the Vatican Museums, taking a guided tour of the Colosseum and snapping selfies or making wishes at the baroque-era Trevi Fountain. Staying closer to home, there’s loads to see and do too. Photogenic Anguillara Sabazia (10 minutes’ drive) sits on Lake Bracciano, where you can go swimming, kayaking and dinghy sailing. There are hiking and cycling trails in the hills surrounding the lake, and a relaxing waterside lido at Riva di Polline (20 minutes) if you want to flop in the sun. At 20 minutes away in the car, Cerveteri is UNESCO-listed for its Etruscan necropolis swathed in frescoes, and the vast medieval Orsini-Odescalchi Castle (15 minutes) is open for audio-guided tours of sumptuous apartments and weaponry collections. Jumping forward in time, the Italian Air Force Museum (10 minutes) has a huge collection of aircraft from helicopters to seaplanes and Typhoon jets.
